Day four: Mecca or The Lava Pit

On the one hand, it was a truly spectacular sight, 40 feet across and 300 feet deep. On the other, it looked much very like any other Lava Pit.

I walked around a bit meditating, trying to achieve Satori. (The Callisto version is not nearly so peaceful as the Zen version, go figure.)

As I approached the edge of the Lava Pit, it occurred to me that the Goddess might be with me, so naturally I stepped back pretty darn quick (ok, we are talking Olympic speed here).

GC: (evil grin) "You know if I had been with you, it wouldn't have mattered how far away from that ledge you were."

MM: "It's nice to be loved."

It struck me that something was missing. Unbelievably there was no monument to commemorate this spot! So being a scribe...

GC: "A bard."

So being a Bard, I took out my trusty laptop. (Apparently the Goddess, while not seeing fit to give me food, warm clothing, or matches, thought I should not be without it.) And began writing:

In a time of ancient Gods, Warlords, and Kings.

A land in turmoil cried out for a hero.

She was Callisto, a mighty Goddess forged in the heat of this Volcano.

The Power, the Passion, the Pain.

Her Rage will change the World.

GC: "That sounds kind of familiar. Are you sure you didn't plagiarize it from somewhere?"

MM: "Why Goddess, I am shocked."
