Scully gazed down at him and offered wearily, "I wish it were that simple."
He shook his head, "you have to believe me," his need for that very thing more eloquent than his words. "Nobody else on this whole damn planet does or ever will," he paused and his words matched the eloquence of his need.
"You're my one in five billion."
She glanced up and her eyes met his, met the naked truth revealed in their green depths, heard the truth and love in his voice, his words and a glimmer of resignation filled her eyes.
She would do as he asked.
