"Psalm 151"

Although a one time guest appearance, I feel Joe's role and performance on the 100th episode of the TV series, Touched by an Angel deserves a special mention. The cast and crew obviously went all out for this very special episode, and it shows. Without being maudulin, sappy or mugging the camera, while being completely natural and enormously sympathetic, Joe's performance is simply stunning. As Petey, a young boy dying of cystic fibrosis, he shines from the first scene to the last, by then if you eyes aren't blurry by then from crying buckets of tears! (I sure did!) Everyone else shines as well. There's best friend Mika Boorem (who played his pal Natalie in "Jack Frost"!) who helps Petey do everything he wants to do before it's too late. There's singing star Wynonna's soulful bastion of strength as his singer/songwriter mother who started the "Psalm 151" of the title when her son Petey was born because she was so happy but can't quite find the words to finish it. There are the regular cast members, too, who fit into the story beautifully. All in all, "Psalm 151" is an episode to treasure. And best of all, it's available on video!

Surprisingly, I haven't found any single reviews for this specific episode. The show has received bundles of praise from critics, but it is difficult to find a review of a single episode. Perhaps the best place to go is Amazon.Com, where viewers have posted comments about "Psalm 151". (see link below.)
