![]() A Little Bit About Us
Tershonian Hamsters was developed in 1999, and began its roots from only 6 hamsters imported in from Chris Ham of Petite Paws, British Columbia. From these six hamsters, our hamstery grew. With the addition of 2 satin hamsters from a pet shop in Statford, Ontario and a sable hamster purchased from a petshop in London, Ontario, our hamstery begun and has grown to approximately 30 hamsters today. Tershonian was a name that Brian developed using his own name "T. Brian Kershaw". The "T" from his first name, Timothy, "ersh" from his last name Kershaw, "o" from Timothy and the "n" from his middle name Brian as well as the ""ian". When put together --"Tershonian".
The Sweden Connection has now started! Anna's hamsters are sought after by many breeders due to her strong Champion/International Champion bloodlines. Her hamsters are well known for their many Best in Show wins due to their type being as close to standard as possible. Anna is also the top breeder of rex hamsters in Sweden for the last 5 years!! All of the rex and rex carriers that were imported where dark eyed and red eyed creams. We are pleased to continue Anna's work in our own hamstery and to offer her bloodlines to other breeders as well. By combining Anna's lines and our own, we will be able to develop a much more close to standard hamster never seen in North American before. A new and exciting adventure! Tershonian Hamstery is also the birth place of the Hamster Club of Ontario, with Brian being the President and Steve being the Treasurer/Secretary. Click here for membership info. Our Mission Tershonian Hamsters signifies an environment created to provide interested hamster enthusiast with a healthy, handiable and happy hamster - the 3 H's. Our breeding programs are entrenched with the various standards of perfection to produce close to standard hamsters, thus providing other breeders with quality stock to either start a breeding program or a quality animal to add to their existing breeding programs. Whether a breeder or a pet owner, our hamsters will meet your needs. Tershonian Hamsters also provides the necessary information and education to maintain the health and well being of your hamster (Click here for Hamster 101). Feel free to email us with questions. If we are unable to answer them, we will glady forward you to someone who can. Tershonian Hamsters has also created the Hamster Club of Ontario to promote hamsters. Since hamsters are North America's #1 pet and usually a first pet of many children, information about health, care and well being are a major focus of our club. |
