Oconee State Park is located in the Northwest corner of the state in the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains. It was built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps and offers two lakes for fishing and swimming, camp sites or cabins for those who are not as adventurous. Nearby are also some attractions worth visiting, such as: the Chatooga River, Isaqueena Falls, White Water Falls and a fish hatchery.

While in the upstate area, a quaint town to visit is Laurens, which has some beautifully restored Victorian homes.
