Ok. So you got some basic idea of how TexasHarley lives. Cool, huh? Well, there's a bit more...actually a lot more, but we won't go into all of it...don't want to bore you to death. Something that made a major impact on my life was a little thing called a "vascular accident." In layman's terms, I had a stroke.

It occurred in my brainstem, and affected several nerves in the brainstem bundle. I suffered partial paralysis of my tongue and throat, making swallowing at best, difficult. It also affected the way my eyes track and focus. Reading is more difficult for me, now. And reading books is not nearly as pleasurable an experience.

Since I'm not the kind of person to give up easily, especially with something that I really enjoy, I have found a way to "read" that hasn't been compromised by my stroke. I now make use of "books on tape", or "audio books". But books on tape get expensive. I've pretty much exhausted the nearest library as a resource, having listened to everything they had, and needed to find another source, and one that was more affordable than paying full retail for the books. What I found was "audible.com". This is a service that allows me, for $20 bucks a month, to download two books per month. Not a whole lot of reading, but more than most of my peers get, anyway. The reason I bring this up is this...if you are interested in the service, and I can say to "audible.com" that I recommended you, then I can get a break on what I get to download. So, if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, first let me say that they have a HUGE number of books, first run best sellers, to choose from. And second, please email me and let me recommend you, officially before you subscribe to the service. Sound like a deal? Thanks.
