CAVE LODGE is a guesthouse, set in a secluded valley 5 hours by bus from Thailand's northern city Chiang Mai. The lodge is the perfect base for CAVING, KAYAKING and TREKKING adventures, soft to extreme.  Or you can just relax by the river, take a local cooking or weaving course, explore fascinating prehistorical sites, watch the exotic bird life or trek on your own to friendly tribal villages.           

CAVE LODGE was established in 1984 by John Spies, its present owner.  He and his local Shan  wife Nung have built their home amongst the spectacular limestone karst mountains of Northwest Thailand. The Lodge is set on a naturally forested hill overlooking the swimming pools of the Lang River, just upstream from the spectacular Lod cave.

We are remote but accessible, at Tham Lod village- 8 kms north of the 1095 highway, between Pai and Mae Hong Son.  Reach us by regular bus from Chiang Mai, MHS or Pai to Soppong (Pang Mapa) then motorbike taxi to Cave Lodge.  Guests also come by rented bike or jeep (there are excellent 'off road' routes near us) or bicycles.  One guy came from Pai on roller skates!  You can also trek here (from Pai, about 3-4 days over the mountain).  Just follow our signs from Soppong, we are always open.  Hope to see you soon.
