Selected Saints of Arcadayn
By Tim Emrick

A few of the holiest priests of Arcadayn's past are revered as saints, who now serve their gods in the afterlife, and occasionally appear to blessed mortals who need the gods' help. Whether these holy men have become minor divinities themselves is a topic for theological debate.

Saints of the Celestian Church

St. Celberic (male; late Second Age-early Third Age): Celberic was the navigator of the Anidel Pilgrim fleet which made Landfall in Arcadayn. He is now revered in Krith and Visala as the patron saint of long journeys. St. Celberic's Day, 25 Highsuntide, is considered by many to be the most auspicious day of the year to begin a journey. (Those born on this day are destined for lives of travel.) His devotees are usually clerics of the Order of the Pole Star. He has no single symbol, but boots stamped with a picture of a sextant are common among his admirers.

St. Ororant (male; ca. 500 KC): Ororant, under divine guidance, created the two Asanoi to reinforce the peace between Krith and Visala (500 KC). He is the patron of diplomats and enchanters, but his popularity in Krith has waned since the Empire's Asanos was lost in the Civil War. He also first articulated the "Mahun model" of the cosmos. His devotees may belong to any order. His symbol is a hand marked on the palm with the Asanos sigil.

St. Theodon (male; first century KC): Theodon was advisor to Konath, third Emperor of Krith (46-89 KC). He was appointed as the first Paragon of the Celestian Church, and standardized the calendar now in use throughout Arcadayn. His devotees are either priests of the Order of Spheres or Knights of the Blue Spear. His symbol is a blue spear--a magical weapon that he wielded in defense of the Empire.

Saints of the Quadralunic Cults

St. Merlessa of Amarwar (female; third century VY): Merlessa was theocrat of Amarwar, in Sivia. She successfully wooed the Daleman lord Edar Kirak of Tath and made him her consort. Their descendants now rule Sivia. St. Merlessa is revered as the patron saint of lovers and marriage in Sivia and Haria, and the ballad of her romance is popular there as well as in the Dales. In areas where the Quadralunic Cults are prominent, she is also adopted as the patron saint of some cities and towns. Her devotees are generalist Quadralunic priests. Her symbol is a girdle.
