Adventures in Arcadayn
The Storm Isles form a chain of islands beginning from just west of Cauldron Isle and reaching into the Ocean of Darkness. Navigation near these islands is hazardous due to the rocky shores, frequent storms, and occasional sea monsters, but some of the islands have thriving ports.
The four largest islands--Inis Mam Gint, Dyelenor, Lurdonor and Ninwalota--are claimed by Haldinibar. (See that page about those islands.) There are two other large islands--Olorlos and Velkalak--near Whale Point, the terminus of the peninsula formed by the northern Landrings. Numerous smaller islands abound, and true to the faerie nature of those islands, some of them appear to move about the sea between (or even during!) visits by sailors.
Olorlos is home to the Unseelie sidhe known as Gargoyles, as well as Sirens. For these reasons, most sailors avoid this island at all costs.
Velkalak is home to the "lake elves," which live in the numerous small lakes dotting the island. Their fabuluosly beautiful capital, Marwar, is hidden beneath the waters of a large lake somewhere in the south of the island.
Merfolk are common in all of the coastal waters of the Storm Isles. Some sailors (especially those with sidhe blood) have befriended them, but most fear them as personifications of the sea's capricious nature. (After all, Morovira the Sea-Mother is depicted as a mermaid.) Sea serpents and other monsters are frequently sighted where the chain enters the Ocean of Darkness (and no sailor calls them friend!).
