FAQ of the Hobbster (Interview)

FAQ of the Hobbster (Interview with the Hobbster, done by Bob McGee)

Bob, or question: Where did you get the nickname 'The Hobbster'?

Hobbster, or answer: I got it when I was in high school. People started calling me that early on, and it's stuck. I suppose it's supposed to sound like 'Hulkster', the wrestling champion Hulk Hogan from a decade ago. When I was in junior high, there was a kid that called me 'Hot Head Hobbit'.

Q: Where have you lived?

A: Generally, first in Garden Grove, then San Jose, and now Folsom. All in California. Pure Californian I am.

Q: Do you have fond memories of any of the houses in those locations?

A: Yes. I think in Garden Grove (in one of the two houses there) we had a sandbox in the backyard. In San Jose, the tree in the front yard was weird because the tree was always shedding! The bark or whatever would simply peel off. In the house in Folsom, we have a huge sandbox (now with weeds) that we used to play with; we used to make cities and ruins and rivers and lakes. We'd drag the garden hose to the sandbox and fill it up with water.

Q: What is your least favorite food?

A: I have many (seriously). One of the most feared and hated is polenta, which is a type of corn meal. Yuck.

Q: And your favorite food?

A: Anything with meat. My favorite dish is milanesa, it's like breaded and pounded meat. With lemon on top. With mashed potatoes, too. My sister and I worship mashed potatoes, but not with country gravy.

Q: What's your favorite color?

A: I really have two: green and purple.

Q: What has been the best vacation?

A: When we drove all around the western U. S. in the summer of 1989. We did so much sightseeing.

Q: Who is your favorite author?

A: That's easy. Agatha Christie, the English mystery novelist. Please check my website dedicated to her. I also enjoy William Shakespeare's work very much.

Q: Who is your favorite singer?

A: Singer? I don't know. My favorite band is and will always be the Beatles.

Q: Who is someone in history that has always impressed you?

A: Three people really: one great leader and two awesome entertainers. The first is Abraham Lincoln; I'm proud that he was the first Republican president. In all seriousness, the man was a patient and kind individual. The two entertainers I refer to are Alfred Hitchcock and Walt Disney. They both knew how to excel in their professions and I believe were both perfectionists. I love reading about both of them. Hitchcock knew that filmmaking is an art and didn't let anybody control him and his movies. Walt Disney was simply a genius. He is undeniably one of the greatest creative people of all time.

Q: Do you have any accomplishments you're proud of?

A: Sure. I had a great mission for the church in Ecuador, I've now graduated from school, I'm an Eagle Scout and proud of it, and I have a great collection of Batman-related comic books and Star Wars memorabilia. I have Darth Vader's autograph!

Q: This is not a question. Just wanted to end and say 'thank you' for answering these questions.

A: This is not an answer. I want to thank you, Bob, for your questions.
