Battlefield 1942

"Once you accept this, the game is a barrel of monkeys."

Since the release of doom, the pc has become THE system for First person shooters. This was showcased again by half-life and half-life add-ons like counterstrike, the genera was going online. The online multiplayer envelope has been pushed even further in Battlefield 1942.

This game is almost completely multiplayer, featuring a small single player mode that is really just a multiplayer game controlled by AI players, (so don’t buy it if you don’t have friends).

I have to admit this game isn’t PERFECT, but it is quite fun and will entertain you for hours. The amount of random events that occur in this game give it a lot of replay value, also the add-ons like Road to Rome and Secret Weapons of WW2 add new levels, weapons, and vehicles. And if that’s not enough, you also get to kill people of other nationalities! (Italian).

The major flaw, on the other hand, is it lacks intensity. The player doesn’t get the full sense of war while playing; it feels more like a violent game of capture the flag with more at stake. Once you accept this, the game is a barrel of monkeys.
The bottom line is, this game is worth the 60 bucks, every penny. And if I had to sugjest an online multiplayer first person shooter, I would say Battlefield.
