June 25, 2002 - Angry and dismayed at results in the Congress of Wingtucky, and of Novaran dissent, the Emm of Jared was triggered to split his country into three. Denisia, a member of the Hanseatic League, receives the most, including Rubicon, the prized Mapp stock exchange; Westminster province; and new land acquired in the Land Rush. Rattanjeetland receives the capital province, all Jaredian multinational corporations, and the ownership rights to the joint Novaran superbase. Finally, Samchorage receives the Terra Nova province and 750 million altos from the Hanseatic treasury.

The Emm cited suffocating apathy and continuous GX hostility as long-term reasons for abdicating. For months, Jared has been waging an information blitz to rally support for its ambitious attempts to overhaul the international system. Past injustices were to be rectified, such as reuniting the El-Hussaqs and forcing an immediate Neorikspolitik. Power was to be spread more evenly among all nations, with the dissolution of the GX, reformation of the Great Powers Forum, and introduction of new Great Powers.

However, the initial attempt to bring about these reforms through the First Jared Bill failed in the First Accreditation. A second bill was drafted in the SPQJ Demarche, with some parts being more radical and others more moderate. Novel elements of the Second Jared Bill (Demarche) were implemented into the Congress of Wingtucky.

In a devastating blow to Jaredian foreign policy, almost every issue, save the one pertaining to the Vickrey system, was voted down. The last straw was Novaran intransigence towards a Hanseatic attempt to bypass the prolonged economic embargoes on Denisia and Jared.

Lacking concrete support from without or within, the Emm believed his nation no longer had a future - its political ambitions were stunted and its economy was in shackles. Furthermore, because Jared had renounced war as a means to achieve its goals, the situation appeared hopeless.

Many Jaredians mourned the loss of their nation and their leader. They claimed that their country had been unjustly villified by the international press, many of which were headquartered in GX nations, as a bunch of radicals and extremists. International reaction to the abdication has mostly been quiet, as powers receiving a slice of the Jaredian state have been silently adjusting to the newfound money and power. On a side note, in Gorditas there are rumours that a national parade will be held soon over other matters, although the timing of the event has generated strong suspicion.
