More Than Gold
Acts 3:1-7
Today, we live in a society where what you have is often just as important, if not more important, than who you are. In the book of Acts, Peter and John had a different perspective that we should all want to have. More important than money in their pockets, they placed value in demonstrating kindness and genuineness of character. In Acts 3:1-7, notice that Peter and John had made a priority of prayer (v. 1) and a priority of people (v. 4-7). I love the fact that they "fixed their eyes" and attention on the man in need. Though they couldn't give the lame man material possessions, what they could give was of far greater value- strength in the name of the Lord Jesus. For many of us, it is much easier to just toss in a buck or two when someone passes the offering plate than to actually make the move to share the awesome knowledge we have in Christ. It is a tough step to take, but as Christians, are we not called to personally spread the love of our savior? All the silver and gold in he world cannot compare to what the power of God can do through a life that is totally submitted to Him.
