What in the world is going on?

Acts 12:1-11

Turn on a TV, listen to the radio, read a paper. One can only ask, "What in the world is going on?" Crimes are on the increase, abortion is an everyday event, more teens are having sex and becoming pregnant, the list goes on and on. The events that we have faced and will face seem to be more and more tragic. In light of the recent one-year anniversary of September 11th, and even the circumstances of how things are now all over the world, it is safe to say that the world is in a desperate state. There have been many that have questioned "where is God in all these tragic events?", but I think that God has a question for us. "Where are the Christians during times like these?"
I believe that the body of Christ can loose focus on one of the most awesome opportunities that a believer can experience. The opportunity to go to the very throne of God through prayer and ask for his intercession during desperate times like there. Throughout the Bible, we find where God's people have seen His miracles after they have sought His face through prayer. Read Acts 12:1-11. This passage is incredible. Peter was put into jail and had a number of obstacles that had to be overcome if he was to get out. He was handed over to at least 16 guards, two of which he was chained to. His circumstances were pretty drastic. The key to this passage is in verse 5. It states that the Church was earnestly praying for him. WOW! That is awesome. Despite the tough situation, our God is much bigger than any bad situation life can dish out. The "earnest" prayer of God's people was answered by God who sent an angel to rescue Peter form the mess that he was in.
There are so many of our friends, family, and even those that we don't know that are in chains. Divorce, abuse, persecution, illnesses, and not knowing Christ, are all chains that need to be broken. Are you willing to be a part of solution to free the world of its chains?
