The Entryway

The Breakers is the old Mayoral Manor house of Digby, and was built for E. R. Oakes, a local

merchant, between 1853 to 1857. It exemplifies the Neoclassical style of architecture,

which appeared in Canada circa 1820.

The Hall and Parlour

The Breakers has a grand entry hall and parlour, with high ceilings and carved plaster and

woodwork. We hope you feel welcomed as you enter The Breakers, as have many guests as they

entered this hallway, over the past 150 years.

Dining Room

We’ll get your day off to a great start with our delicious breakfast. Enjoy it in our

spacious dining room, well appointed in a period style. We pride ourselves on offering a

healthy and nutritious breakfast. Vegetarian and special diets available by request.

Upstairs

All of our guest rooms are on the second floor, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of

Digby harbour, sailboats, and early morning sunrises. Make yourself at ease in our spacious,

comfortable rooms.

The Rooms

We have three guest rooms. Our rooms are large and bright with either queen sized or double

beds, tastefully decorated with English and Early Canadian antiques and artwork. Each room

has its’ own private, ensuite 4 piece bath.
