Why "The Brown N(ut/ote)book?"
Shallow as it may sound, one of Rachel's most favorite gifts on her 18th birthday was a brown notebook. Since then, she has developed the habit of keeping a diary (and later, a blog) to write about her life and her out-of-this-world thoughts. Offline-wise, she can never live without a pen and a notebook with her and has always bought a brown notebook eversince.
With those quirks in mind, the site was named such because this serves as the online version of her diary, with sample articles (the notebook part) and links and pictures (the nutbook part) attached to spice up the notes.
Why make this site?
This site was made to complete the requirements for her Journalism 122 class (Publication Design and Layout) under Prof. Danilo Arao. (Although Rachel says that even if it was not required, developing a site about herself is still a worthwhile activity, narcissistic as it may sound.)
Who is Rachel anyway?
Rachel Grace Carolino Hermosura is a fourth fifth year Journalism major from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is currently the vice chairperson of the UP Mass Communicators Organization and a probationary member of the DZUP Radio Circle and the UP Green Minds. She also completing her undergraduate thesis with her thesis partner and fellow MCOer Annelle Tayao.
Born on the day the 1987 Philippine Constitution was ratified, she is the youngest daughter of Charlie and Delilah and has two siblings Charleson, 30, and Diana Jean, 24.
She attended San Roque Parochial School for nursery school and transferred to Our Lady of Grace Academy (later renamed as St. Mary's Academy of Caloocan City) where she stayed from kindergarten years to high school. She entered the University of the Philippines Diliman as a Comparative Literature major and shifted to Journalism three semesters later.
A month before her first day in UP, Rachel built her first blog at MySpace to document her fears and cheers of her college life. She later moved on to Tabulas and maintained her blog for three years. Today, Rachel is more active in her Multiply blog and crossposts to her LiveJournal.
