Esperanto

Native Name: Lingvo Internacia
Creator: Dr. Lejzer Ludwik Zamenhof
Creation Date(s): 1887 (published)
Comments: Esperanto was created to be an international auxiliary language, that is, a second language for all.

Phonology and Spelling Conventions: Esperanto uses a modified version of the latin alphabet. Each letter in the alphabet corresponds to exactly one sound.
Morphology and Conjugation: Verbs are modified to show tense or mood, but not to reflect the subject. Nouns may be either singular or plural, and either nominative or accusative. Adjectives are inflected to match the number and case of nouns. Compounding, prefixes, and suffixes are used quite liberally to form new words.
Syntax: In Esperanto, the order of words does not matter much, with the expection of prepositions, conjunctions, and a few primitive adverbs.
Comments: The simplicity and regularity of Esperanto grammar makes it much easy to learn than any nation language.

Sample: Esperanto meritas vian seriozan konsideron.
Translation: Esperanto deserves your serious consideration.
Comments: Notice the similarities between Esperanto and other European languages, such as English.
