| Welcome to Sixth grade Science on the Bears Team. I am Mrs. Rita Gibson. I am married to a Landscape Architect, have a 17 year old daughter in twelfth and a 15 year old son in tenth at Apex High. Originally from Buffalo, NY, I have lived in NC since 1983. (Does that make me a native?) I enjoy roller-skating, reading novels, and sleeping in late. On most Sundays I can be found grading papers or working on lesson plans while watching my favorite sport on TV - Nascar Racing. I am currently working on overcoming my summer addiction to computer games! |

| I am looking forward to a year of fun, exciting learning in science with your child. We will be covering a wide range of subjects including Sound, Light, and Heat, Astronomy (So, dig out those old telescopes for some serious star gazing in February.) We will also be discovering the Earths Changing Surface. Throughout the year, during the Enrichment period, we will study the novel Invitation to the Game including the unit on Plants and Animals. |

| I will be planning 2 field trips this year. The first in October to the Linville Caverns and in April a Forestry trip to Lake Crabtree. |
