Ultrasound at 25 weeks

My second ultrasound was on March 15, 2001. This time, Mom M. got to come along to see firsthand that the grandchild is indeed doing fine.

This ultrasound was to check out why Junior insists on laying to the right, which gives me a distinct lopsided look in the morning. Well, we found out that the baby is lying the right horn of my two-horned uterus. This is called a bicornuate uterus (ignore any bad stuff in this link...none of it applies to me). It doesn't hurt the baby, and because he's again in a head-down position, it should mean that everything is fine for a normal delivery. Once the baby is head down, the shape of the uterus means that it's unlikely he'll flip around.

This ultrasound was neat because again, I got to see all of the baby's movements, plus his stomach was full, which means he's swallowing. As well, Junior even peed during the ultrasound! At the beginning, the bladder was full, and at the end, the bladder was empty. Translation: the kidney's are working fine.

Mind you, Junior wasn't as happy with me after this ultrasound...much generally pushing and kicking. I don't think he liked being poked and prodded!

In this picture, the baby's hand is spread out over his mouth and nose.

This is a straight-on view of the baby's face. It kind of reminds me of an animation from The Simpsons. You can see the eyes, the nose, the forehead, and under the baby's chin is a hand.

The scanning didn't turn out too well with this one, but it's a side view of the baby again, with just the head, part of the chest and the arm. The baby has a fist in front of his mouth, kind of like he's suckin his thumb.
