Day 5 - The Frame Raising Thursday, October 19 |
||||||||||||||
|
After putting in the final braces and pounding the last few pegs into place, the timberframers handed the wooden sledge over to Brian to pound in the last peg. |

Then
Brian climbed to the highest peak of the frame to place the pine bough,
signifying that the frame was finally complete and to pay homage to the
trees that were used to make the frame. (This is the tradition - however,
our frame is all red and white oak, not pine.)

A
close up shot of Brian high on the peak (I would have gotten up there
too, but I was on camera duty... yeah, right!)

Even before the last peg was pounded, the panel installation began. Here is a picture at the end of day on Thursday. By the end of the day on Saturday, all of the wall panels had been set into place. |
