   Welcome to the Material page

The News | Our Influences | Gig Guide | Our Music

Ok, This page is where Sam has written a little bit about the songs on the soon to be released EP so that you can see for yourself what is going on inside that head of his (at your peril). This part will being updated in time when the new material becomes available so please check back. If you wanna hear about one of our songs you are more than welcome to email us, the link being on the Home page. Brace yourself!

This Has Gone Far Enough

A pretty important song - not only the set-opener for 6 months or so, but also the first song we were properly happy with. Once described as 'Interpol on speed', and in an unrelated incident as 'Joy Division, but with something happening'.

A Spell for Escape

Our oldest song, sort of. Premises' veterans may be able to spot the bass line from our very first song Cry secreted amongst the wall of noise. That song was dropped because Sam didn't like the U2 comparisons. This radically different version is more fuck you than U2. ba-dum tshh.

Introvenous

Sam's homage to New Order and much less trendily, Pet Shop Boys, Introvenous has evolved from a sprawling 15 minute instrumental, to the six minute electronic slice of guitar/synth mayhem that should materialise on the EP. Paul Little's favourite Premises lyric is in this song. Tell us what it is and win a hat.

Audrey Hepburn

Previously Gut Me, The Premises' lone love song (discounting crowd pleaser, but not really 'song' The Sexy Song), realising this sentiment is too nice for a proper rock band, it is now about someone who wishes they were living in an old black and white film. Tell us who and win nothing, it's too bloody obvious.
