COLLEGE

The need for construction/trades people and IT professionals has never been greater. To fill this void, community and technical colleges have revamped their programs to supply employers with college graduates ready to serve their needs.

But before you start thinking that going to college is your key to getting a good-quality job, consider that as with all skill sets, there are cycles in the economy leaving what's popular and required today, obsolete tomorrow. With that in mind, you should first ask yourself if college is truly right for you.

In the table below, you'll find some general factors you should consider when deciding upon your post-secondary education: University or College? Which one suits your needs and desires?

  University College
Learning Theories and Concepts Mostly Some
Practical Knowledge Used on the Job Some Mostly
Hands-On Experience Some Mostly
Co-op Opportunities Available Available
Conducting Research in New Fields During Graduate Studies Very Little
A "Guaranteed" Job upon Graduation Almost None Almost None

We hope the RADS will help you make the right decision!
