Erik is the champion of recovery. Toward the end of his speech the lights went out. Did Erik get shaken up? Not at all. Since he was talking about home improvement he made a quick comment about "And than in the middle of your remodeling you lose power and the lights go out"! It almost looked like it was staged and brought on additional laughter. He went on to finish his speech in partial darkness.

Club Question:  Is there a better or more fair way to tax the American people?  In other words, would you be in favor of changing to a flat tax or some other system and why?
Area Question:  The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the United States from France, to celebrate the American commitment to human liberty, which France valued highly.  If the US Congress decided to award a monument to a nation each decade for admirable political or social values, to which nation should we award that prize for the 1990s?
