The Leaders

Every single one of us, in its own, is a little hero: living on your own in a different country is not really easy specially the first days.  But nevertheless there have been some special person that with their "social skills" or beauty or just friendship have created a group of people around them. According to my definition these are the leaders (and of course I knew them all!). The problem is that I am writing this page on my own and I don't know many stories from the TEITH and I am sure I don't know also all of the residence people so I couldn't put all of the leaders here...

 Carlo & Maurizio

Carlo & Maurizio were two Italian guys from the university of Pescara and they were erasmus in the Aristotelio. As soon as they got in touch with Greece (European Language Program for erasmus in Greece) they started making "damages" to the image of the Italians abroad offering free "spaghetti dinners" in the hearth of the night, being friendly with everybody and hanging out till late...
Sooner than they expected they got the "Latin lover" fame and this added even more to their leadership between the boys of the residence raising them to the myth level.

This is a photo from the Good-Bye party of Carlo and Maurizio. According to the instructions received by Mandy they had to wear some special dress...

Carmen

This Portuguese girl is completely crazy. It doesn't matter the time, it doesn't matter the weather and it doesn't matter if she should study or not, she's always on the move. She's always talking, she looks like she never needs sleep and worse of all, she looks like nobody can stop her.
Her friendly behavior and ability to talk made her the friend of many people. Sure she is a nice person to go out with... even if she likes to spar with her friends a little bit too much.

Here we have Carmen picking up Agneska from Poland.

Enrico (Hey, that's me!)

Am I narcissist or not? Of course I am. And a lot more than other people can expect of me. I like to organize things. I like when everything works just like expected and I like to be the boss, 'cause it's good to be the boss. And that's why I made up all of this.
Maybe I haven't been a real leader for those people (and friends) anyway it was good to help them and you can be sure that when somebody needed help they used to ask me first, thus adding to my enormous (over inflated) self esteem ;).
Since there are already too many photos of me around the place I wish to use this space with a easy lecture :

Lesson #1 How to pick up a girl in Greece
(with the co-operation of Luana from Bulgaria)

Step #1 Know the girl. Do not reveal your intention to pick her up. Get ready for steps #2 and #3.

Step #2. This step has to be made very quickly: LIFT THE GIRL! Be careful to start by lifting the legs otherwise she can run away...

Step #3 Et voilà: The girl has been picked up. You can keep this position until you feel that your back is not standing anymore the weight. Repeat as much as you want.

SURGEON'S GENERAL WARNING : Picking up girls weighting too much can provoke serious health injuries. Anyway picking up too many girls does not cause cancer.

Ivan

A very interesting specimen: this young Italian boy came to Greece without knowing a single word in English. He had to rely on improvisation and on body language in order to let the most people understand him. Nevertheless in a few days he was already one of the most popular people of the residence and after some month he was raised to the level of myth just like Maurizio and Carlo.
Just to mention one story: instead of writing his final work for the university the guy was writing his final speech for his goodbye party!

This is an enlargement of the Ivan I.D. photo from the Matteo's dinner.

Hilda & Mandy

Hilda & Mandy were two nice erasmus from the 4° floor of the Vassilissis Olgas residence. They haven't been leaders in the common accept ion of the word but they were really friend with everybody. In the end they organized a terrific party in the Residence that brought them to this page.

Here you see in the order Mandy and Hilda.

David

The final acknowledgement has to go to this Spanish guy. He was the soul of the first semester nights. A good entertainer with a natural ability for bongos and guitar. Several dinners on the 7th floor were followed by David's exhibition. He also has been initially into the organization of parties and it was him to propose the Abya Yala as place for parties.

In the picture you can see in order Pawel and David. The photo was taken on the first "exploration trip" to Ladadica while we were looking for a suitable pub to make the party.
