LINKS

Academic institutions
The Aristotelio university of Thessaloniki - This is the link to the start page of the Aristotelio university. From here, with a little patience, you will be able to reach the programs of the single faculties. Most of the pages are accessible also in English.

The University of Makedonia of Thessaloniki - This is the link to my lovely Greek university. Among those pages also the pages made by the IT students with a interactive map of the city and a guide to Thessaloniki and Halkidiki (The seaside East of the city). Click here to access the page with the erasmus guide.

The Technological Institute of Thessaloniki - This will bring you in the page of the institute. As you see the page is quite good! They put the students of the informatics department at work. In 1999-2000 some of the erasmus students was given the task to complete the pages of the exchange students, I hope you will be able to find their work.

Useful Student associations
ESN International - This is a link to the Erasmus Student Network. The ESN is a no profit association of students that have been erasmus or, anyway, intend to promote the process of European integration in the field of study. If you've been erasmus you should really think about joining or starting a affiliated section in your university. I tried myself to start a ESN section in Greece with Greek students but the only people I found were those from AEGEE Thessaloniki (quite uninterested) and those of AIESEC Thessaloniki (Too involved in their works...)

ESN Athina is the only ESN section in Greece. You will see that some of their pages are of interest for the general erasmus student going to Greece (not just to Athens).

Associazione Studenti Erasmus - The homepage of the student association that I belong to in Roma. This is a association that helps erasmus students in Roma. I designed the pages and made quite a lot of activities for them. The association is a member of ESN international.

Telephone operators
If you own a mobile GSM phone you will want to know which GSM operator is the cheapest. The answer actually is telestet, but try to roam amongst the homesites, maybe things are changed. For all of them the best choice is the prepaid cards. The recharges for the cards are available in every peripetros on the street and in specialized shops.

Telestet - Telestet offers a prepaid card called BFREE (it is a GSM card with number) at 5.000 Drx. According to the time and the tariff plan you choose you can pay from 1.1 Drx per second to 3,2 Drx per second.

Panafon - Also panafon offers a rechargeable card. While I write this the prepaid card "a la carte" is NOT the cheapest both in term of initial expense and charge per conversation. In the time that I am writing even the site of panafon does not indicate the amount per second (because it is HIGH).

Cosmotè - The national operator offers as well a prepaid card called "cosmocarta". When I write the cost of calls using cosmocarta is 3,3 Drx per second. Absolutely the most expensive of the three.

Other useful
031 - In this site you will find information about clubs and events in the city. Unfortunately most of the content is in Greek.

GR net - this is the backbone of the Greek Internet. If you like Information Technology you will find it interesting.

Museums in Thessaloniki - This page lists the available museums in the city. The page dates back to 1997 but, as you know, it takes a long time to move a museum so you can rely on it. Did you know that with the student's passo museums are FREE (The passo is released to you by the university and is a document that states that you're a student)

RadioXoros FM 98.7 - A radio station from Thessaloniki, Greece. If you want to get used to how does Greek language sounds like then just take a minute listening to it.

Thessaloniki GR Weather Forecast - Here you find what kind of weather you can expect in Thessaloniki for today and the next days, the service is provided by Yahoo.

Thessaloniki Airport Departures - A list of the departures from the international airport of Thessaloniki. The list might not be 100% accurate but it is still good.

Discover Turkey - A lot of erasmus students usually takes a trip around the country. Here is a guide to Turkey. Of course the site looks written by a Greek but keep in mind that even if half of what it says it is true then you should reconsider your trip.

Other "unuseful"
The unofficial page - This page was made by Robin (a guest of the Vassilissis Olgas Residence). Apart some critics to the parties in Abya Yala you will find a useful guide about what to to and what NOT to do while in the residence.

The Psik Rafael Page - In this page a Polish guy from the Vassisilisis Olgas residence kept a diary of the life in the residence and some photos. This is very interesting since it gives you a idea of how is the life there and what you can expect for your next future.

Marita and Yvonne erasmus experience - Wanna see how's the life for a TEITH student? Just surf Marita and Yvonne's site about Thessaloniki (in Norvegian!!!! Look at the photos in "binder")

Enrico Iapoce Homepage - The page of the creator of this page ;) This is where I keep a small list of interests. It is intended mostly for my friend so if you're not curious do not bother to see it.
