The origins of the stray sod are lost in the mists of time. However legend has it that many years ago when God was a little boy, this land was ruled by the fairies. One night a man was coming home from the pub and tripped over a fairy. The fairy was so enraged that he cast a spell on the man, so the man was lost in the field for the night. At dawn the next day the man was able to find his way home. His wife was also enraged at the story the man told and would not believe him. So, if you stand on the "stray sod" you may not get home 'till dawn!
