A RM2 billion investment on a silicone chemical production plant has recently been committed after rounds of negotiation between the State Government of Johor and Dow Corning Corp, the world's leading silicone chemical manufacturer.

This investment will see the set up of the world's third largest silicone plant in Tanjung Langsat Industrial Estate, one of the largest petroleum and petrochemical-based industrial area in South East Asia located approximately 40 kilometres east of Johor Bahru City.

The proposed plant will have a workforce of 400 to 500 and the plant would produce silicone chemicals used in the manufacturing of construction sealants, textiles, etc.
