The street is located in the old part of the city and is one of the west parallel streets to the main street of the old city, which was constructed by the Turkish regime. The houses along the street are of one floor and were inhabited by the Arab and Bedouin citizens in the beginning of the 20th century.
By the beginning of the 1980s, artists and entrepreneurs started a process of purchasing assets and converting the unique designed houses into galleries and coffee shops. The basic typical internal design of the houses with the rooms surrounding an internal yard, allow the guests to enjoy privacy while sitting in an open space without artificial air-condition.
