GOAL OF THIS HOME PAGE
Backpacking , hostelling, independent travelling or just doing it yourself in Africa,
has really rapidly grown up in the few years since this service was started. From hostels
that had never seen a computer, to today's ones that are wired for the internet, even when
hidden away miles from the madding crowds.
BUT the important questions still remain as to , HOW, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN.
So we are still here to provide you with as much information as possible - FOR FREE .
Our ethic has however not changed at all, you will still find us at the

All hostel listings on the hostels page and elsewhere, will remain FREE, as will

HOWEVER we are have met many friends both locally and internationally, who can help you
in your travels, and so can offer a service to travellers both in-bound and out-bound. If
we cannot answer you directly, your query will get passed over directly to an operator who

Please note that this site has absolutely no connection to "Backpack Africa
Internet C.C." nor any of it's other operations and has never attempted, nor intends
to "pass itself off" as such.
Both sites are mutually exclusive and totally independent.
"Just Backpacking - Southern Africa" IS NOT a totally commercial operation
backed by an Internet Service Provider (GIA). Instead it is essentially a simple service
site, for all interested in backpacking, and it's promotion is Southern Africa. "FEET
IN AFRICA are good for us all, without them we are all lost", so we are quite happy
to share our resources with anybody with the same motives.
