Woodland Traditions Page 2!

Signing the Wall: No one knows quite when it started, but signing your name on Woodland's blacklight illuminated wall became a tradition for all new partygoers. The wall has since been repainted, but you can still make out the letters WOODLAND when the blacklight is on.

BIG RED BAT: The big red bat was always a favorite of Dsaur and TQT at parties. They used to beat themselves with it until they drew blood! The bat has since found it's way to Austin and evolved into Spicebrush's only tradition...The Bat Dance!

Stealing: From bikini posters to rice bowl/ashtrays, drinking mugs to signs, many members of the crew liked to take the five finger discount on items. Shame on you!

PJ parties: Woodland saw it's share of pajama parties. While the first one was a blast, the following PJ parties seemed more of an excuse to dance around in your underwear than anything else.

CEJ: While Thursday was always the popular night to hit up the CEJ, the Crew would often attend on Wednesdays for $1 drinks and Fridays for free beer. The normal routine was to stay at Free Beer until midnight, at which point the party moved to Woodland with any guests you could convince to come over.

Party Shirts: This tradition must have started with Ralfus's pink silk shirt. Soon, the Crew's standard party wear was the most outrageous shirt that you could find. Others may have laughed at us...but they were just jealous of our style.

Players: The favorite hangout of Wolf and the ROTC boys, this pool hall soon became a Woodland tradition. With Gill's custom made drinks, Jeff Crouch, Steve the bartender, and huge chili cheese fries, you could always have a good, drunken time at Players. Players was also the location where Ralfus enjoyed his first draft beer and where Lee Train got his name.

Throwing stuff off of the deck: Lawnmowers, cans of peaches, and tables have all been tossed from the back deck at Woodland. This tradition goes hand in hand with breaking deck furnitue...an event that would send partygoes scurrying for shelter. I suspect that someday the hot tub is going to go over the top...

Drives into the Valley: Who doesn't enjoy taking an afternoon drive down into the Valley? The Crew made frequent trips into the valley for such reasons as Country Cabin Liquors (Strawberry Hill Run), late night study sessions in the Amigo, and for thrills on river road. One must also include The Rooste in any tradition regarding the valley.
