ACT II, Scene 1
Don't Let the Soup Run Out on Me
Music by Elton John, Words by John Abrahams
Scene:  It's time for ""My Dinner with Mitchell."  Much smacking of food, with the occasional question about the heroin shipment.  The real tension mounts for our host CUMMINS after his butler, BENTON, informs him there's no more tasty soup to be had ...
Cummins:

I can't stand no more of your incompetence
All my orders seem to escape your sight
I'm growing tired, as this slob sits across from me
Chowing down as if to save his life

Benton:

Too late, to save myself from failing
I took a chance, and made two cans of Campbell's Light
But I misread his meaning when he asked me
To cook enough for just one lousy guest tonight

Cummins:

Don't let the soup run out on me
Although I ask for more, it's just an empty bowl I see
I'm tired of all your lousy butler tendencies
But more than anything, it's the soup running out on me

Benton:

I can't find, oh the right strategic lie
Just see my face, and you can tell the way I feel
Don't discharge me, just because I failed to make some more
This guest we have, he eats enough for about ten meals!

Cummins:

Don't let the soup run out on me
Although I ask for more, it's just an empty bowl I see
I'm tired of all your lousy butler tendencies
But more than anything, it's the soup running out on me
