Prior
to the late 1950's the Three Village Garden Club had no regular meeting place
of its own. At first, meetings were held in various places such as the president's
home, the Old Field Clubhouse, the Stony Brook Firehouse, the Neighborhood House
in Setauket, the Suffolk Museum in Stony Brook, and the public schools.
Then on June 17th, 1959 a permanent Clubhouse was made available by Mr. and Mrs. Ward Melville. This attractive building is situated on the 25 acre Sanctuary and Arboretum in Setauket maintained by the Three Village Garden Club. In 1966, a spacious wing was added by the members and dedicated on October 19th as the Jennie F. Melville Room in honor of the founder and first president of the Club. The Clubhouse is located at the end of Bates Road off Main Street, adjacent to the old Caroline Episcopal Church. Click here for map and directions.
Although initially and primarily used by the Club for its meetings and shows, the Clubhouse is also made available to outside parties interested in renting space for various functions. If you are interested in renting space please click here for more information.
