What game would be complete without hidden secret areas easter eggs? There are 3 known easter eggs in Quake II. To find them, follow these steps:
NOTE: These were extracted from frag.com

Quake II Ending id Gallery:

After defeating the end game boss in the level "Final Showdown", hit the floor plate button on the left of the outside area, and you can then step down into a cellar like passageway that has opened up. Walk through there until you reach a new passageway with a breakable wall at the end. Bust through the wall and you will enter the id Gallery, a collection of photos of Quake II's designers. Some of them have buttons which do make the pictures do things. At the end of the gallery, is a ladder down which leads to a room filled with a Quake II enemy and some ... well, some friends.

If you wish to jump straight to this final level, type "map boss2" at the console.

Factory Timed Bonus Level:

There is a "bonus" level in the "Receiving Center", that is like a nintendo bonus level where you have a certain amount of time to collect all the points on the bonus level. The level time is 30 seconds. There is ammo, health, packs, and a Railgun to pick up. So, run around and collect everything, and keep an eye on the coutdown clocks around the level for your time left. You can only enter this secret level 1 time.

To get to this secret level, open up your console (Tilde key ~), and type "exec factory.cfg". There is an outside area on a raised walkway that has a little waterfall next to it with the nice green lighting around it. You need to rocket jump onto the top of the waterfall, and then swim down into the water to enter the bonus level.

Carmack Shrine:

There is a secret "Carmack Shrine" room in the map 'CITY3' (the upper palace). Located on the wall to the left of you as you enter this room is a picture of Carmack with his ferrari, which he gave to Thresh, not so long ago. There is a computer in the room and a poster of DooM behind it. When you push the button on the computer, a glass container is exposed with Carmack's severed head rotating in fluid.

To get to this secret room, open up your console (Tilde key ~), and type "map city3". At the begining of this map you go up a hallway, and end up over-looking a shaft that has a force field protected doorway at the bottom. You need to find the Yellow Security Pass, and open this door. Once inside push the button on the wall, and a walkway opens up in the floor of the hallway. Go down the walkway and you will see a brick crumbled looking wall, and a pit of green toxic waste. (If you blow up the brick wall there is armor behind it.) There is a small button to your right on the small ledge of the ooze pit. Press the button, and you will here a doorway open up. Jump into the green ooze and swim towards wall where the armor was. You will come up in the "Carmack Shrine" room.

There is a neat trick you can do while playing Multiplayer, especially if you feel like pissing the other players off!! You can make hand motions with your Marine, like flipping other people off. These are the Multiplayer hand motions, enter them at the console by pressing the Tilde key (~):

What it does What you enter
    Flipoff: wave 0
    Military Salute: wave 1
    Taunt: wave 2
    Wave your hand: wave 3
    Point: wave 4
