Jammin JJ's RPG Page!

Introduction

Do you remember when you were little, and you use to play Cowboys and Indians? Well, in a sense RPGs or Role Playing Games are the adult version of the kids game. What makes the adult version more mature is you use your imagination and use a few extra rules. This lets people travel to exotic lands, and fight off foul villians and rescue maidens, all from the comfort of your home.

In the beginning what people played were called Pen-and-Paper RPGs. In these games, there is a Game Master, a refree of sorts, who controls all of the action. From every monster you fight, to every person you meet, he takes care of it all. Even though this sounds like fun, it has great responsiblities, for you must keep the players entertained.

Then someone had the very cool idea of making a computer be the DM. This idea was spread to every console. Dragon Warrior was one of the first RPGs that was extremely popular, as was Final Fanasty and Ultima. Today they have spawned several series, and are quite fun to play, even though they are somewhat straight forward.

Disclaimer

RPGs have been the talk of a large controversy. Seemingly, a kid killed his parents when he was loaded up on drugs, and was drinking alcohol. He was arrested and I'm not sure whether he said it, or someone else blamed it, but D&D apparently got the rap for the murder. People since have called D&D satanic and such, which is entirely not true! It is simply another from of game or story. I feel sorry for those who can't figure out that such games like D&D and Magic: the Gathering are only games, and not some evil satanic cult thing.

I also would like to say that I also feel sorry for you if you take it farther than it was suppose to be. It is just a game, you shouldn't actually cast spells and swing swords and act violently in real life. If you want to see real life violence, watch the news. You'll find more horrendous acts on the news than in EVERY RPG book. Like I said before, these are GAMES not something evil.
