The Legend Begins...

Play MIDI-Kakariko Village
The storyline of the Zelda series is twisted and confusing. The order the games take place in chronologicly is:
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

  • In the first one, the second 2, and the last 2, there is a different Link and different Zelda. That makes 3 different Links and Zeldas, right? No actually 3 Links, and four Zeldas since the sleeping one in Zelda II is another one. But, there is only one Ganon/Ganondorf. Confused? Well, you should be :-)

Writing this epic adventure was originally a meantime hobby of a Nintendo employee in the early days of the Nintendo Entertainment System. This magical man's name is Kensuke Tanabe, a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's work. In his spare time he wrote the grand Zelda story, set in the fantasy land of Hyrule.

Shigeru Miyamoto got to know about this, and used it for a new game. This gane, The Legend of Zelda, was the first game to ever hit the one million sales mark, and was one of the richest games of all time. In this game, there wasn't a lot of room for storytelling yet, but the other games made up for it. This series spawned comics, TV shows, and has lasted for a huge 11 years now. In less than a month, when The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time comes out, Mr. Tanabe's grand saga will be comlete.

    In this section,

I have carefully assembled dosiers of information, reviews, and downloads from the earlier 4 games, along with an emulation page, and soon a complete guide to the series' story.
