June-1998

30th @7:28 P.M. CST:

HTML: Well, believe it or not, I actually started learning HTML.  If you want to follow along as I learn, I uploaded the html page on the server and you can see it here.  Right now, yes it does look like crap..but I'm learning so give me break :) -Rehlman

Tristine Love'n: I asked Maryann if she'd let me post a compilation done by Ash a long time ago of all the Tristine quotes as suggested by Mephisto.  I have them, but only in print and was going to type them up again.  Anyway, she shot it down because it's Palladium's policy not to let webpages print Palladium material.  Now I can understand this in stats and stuff, but I think that posting the Tristine quotes would not only make the game look much cooler to the average passer-by, but also some of the books that you got those quotes from like Old Ones would look oh so much more attactive.  But hell, what do I know... On a brighter note though, Maryann did hook up Ash with some material that he had lost a long time ago...who knows.. -Rehlman

HTML: Ok, I've decided that I should do at least one thing constructive this summer ;)  These next few days I'm going to be giving myself a crash course on HTML coding and eventually I hope to break away from my wysiwyg editor.  If all goes well I'll move on to CGI.  What's this mean to you...well, not much :)  Actually the news will be a little slower this week because of the time it will take to learn my tags, but I think that's a small price to pay for a webmaster who might actually know what he's doing ;) -Rehlman

S.D.C. and H.P.'s: I was talking with my new bud, Mephisto 14, about some stuff going on over here at ISC and in Palladium World.  He likes the operation over here at ISC and he's going to be contributing a few works and we're going to be working on a few things together for the website down the road.  Now is that swank or what? ;)  Right now he's working on a sweet project that'll interest all you magic lovers ;)  But for now, here's a short sampling of his writing with H.P.'s and S.D.C.:

The way we run it is simple and thus; SDC is "bruise" damage, the stuff that hurts but isn't debilitating.  Once you're in HP loss, it's serious. Internal bleeding, major cuts, guts hanging out, etc. Thus, when HP damage is incurred (including "direct to HP" effects, Havoc, Death, etc.) all HTH and W.P. bonuses are gone and the character is dying at 3 HP / Melee untill stabilized/healed. Works good for us. Also acts as a "Morale" gauge. "I'm just bruised." is a far cry from "I can't fight without my sword arm!"

BTW, I'm not afraid of the foreign, if you have a response to something I put up on the site or in the news, or have something of your own to contribute (besides magic weapons and items..ugh!), send it on over ;) -Rehlman

28th @9:43 P.M. CST:

Palladium Updates: Ok, so I wasn't to thrilled about the update on their site yesturday, but today they worked out all the kinks and guess what, they even have the right date!  They must of seen my little rant about that ;)  They added to their Opps section with a bunch of errors made in HU 2.  And they got the chat room working.  Now I've already been asked "Oh Rehlman, you're so cool, I bet you can tell me how the chat room works!" err...yeah ;)  Anyway, Obviously you put your username in the username spot (i.e. "Rehlman") and then for profile you can put additional stuff about yourself.  Suggested would be which Palladium games you play and maybe your website if you run one.  Once you enter chat you can see other peoples profiles by clicking on their name, and by double clicking on that persons name, you go into private chat.  Simple enough eh? ;) -Rehlman

Midevil Day: Today in Malta it is Mnarja Day, in which they recreate customs of Middle Ages.  We need a day like this in the U.S.! -Rehlman

Geocities Stuff:  My wonderful (cough...cough) server Geocities made the CNN report.  They were talking about the forced advertising that every page has to do with that lame watermark you see in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and how some "Geocitizens" are getting ticked off ;)  Then they interviewed the some big wig from Geocities about it and he points out two examples of people who like it, in one example they had to add in [watermark] to show you that they were of course refering to that, and the other doesn't even say a thing about it.  Luckily next year I go to college, and get to use their much faster, oh so sweet server, that is, unless Palladium wants to host this website on their server ;)  Oh yeah, you can check out the article from CNN here-Rehlman

27th @5:52 P.M. CST:

Palladium Updates: The Palladium Books Website was updated today.  Basically all it has is a Guestbook, a new link picture, and a bunch of screwed up / unenabled links.  But it's the time and thought that Maryann and Thom put into that counts..hehe ;) -Rehlman

Palladium Talk Back: Thought I'd pass this along.

A new service offered by the Arch Mage

http://cis-1.altnews.com.au/palladiumtalkb/

A web based bulletin board for you to place palladium related notices like page plugs, page updates and the like.

Please feel free to make use of the resource...

Should I go over there and post everytime I update my website? ;) -Rehlman

My Calender Must Be Off: Man, don't you just hate faulty calendars, always screwing up the days.  I mean, take a look at Palladium Website, it was updated June 29th, 1998..two days ahead of now.  Also check out Palladium Talk Back.  The first message posted on there was on 28/6/98 (The 6th day of the 28th month? :) I wouldn't bother with it, but the day is ahead by one there even if it was written correctly.  My computer must be psychic or something :) -Rehlman

Heroes Contacts: Updated Heroes Contacts, of course it doesn't do you to much good without the story that goes with it, does it? :)  We'll see what happens. -Rehlman

26th @2:00 P.M. CST:

AOL Conference: Opps, forgot to mention this would be taking place (and of course I missed it..doah!!), and it happened back on the 23rd.  As usual Shawn Merrow was a really great guy and logged the entire script on his website.  If you want to read an hours worth of chat, heck, head on over there ;)  Otherwise I did the same thing as I did for last months chat and pulled all the information regarding anything and everything you might care about, condensed it, and catagorized it.  Enjoy! -Rehlman

PFRPG

ShawnM011: How about Western Empire.

Siembieda: The manuscript is being edited and the artwork is coming in. I'll have some on the web site soon

Siembieda: The cover for Western Empire is on the back of the Rifter

GabePML: Did I hear a rumor that Bill Coffin was working on another manuscript after Western Empire?

Siembieda: Yes he's doing both the Baalgor Wastelands and Mount nimiro

Siembieda: Bills a great guy. Steve Edwards is working on the Eastern Territories

Ghoull: Last conference I believe you mentioned a book on the Elf-Dwarf Wars? Any news?

Siembieda: Thats Kevins baby, he's dying to do the Elf/Dwarf wars

Siembieda: Bill Coffin wants a crack at that too. He may even create a new continent when we're done with this one

ShawnM011: Any more material for the Timiro kingdom in the works?

Siembieda: There will be more material on that whole area.

ShawnM011: Is Monsters & Animals 2nd still in print? I can not get my hands on that book in this area.

Siembieda: Monsters & Animals is still available

Siembieda: Do you know which distributor you store uses by any chance?

Siembieda: Tell your store to give us a call and we'll make sure they can get it

GabePML: Great. I can't wait for more PFRPG stuff... Any word on the Old Kingdom books?

Siembieda: They're in they'll just take a lot more editing than we would like, but they will get done

Siembieda: We really want to focus on our worlds though. The fantasy stuff has been incredible to work on again. Its our favorite

GabePML: Hell yeah.

-Rifter #3-

ShawnM011: Is Rifter #3 still at the printers?

Siembieda: Yes sir, it should be back in about two weeks

GabePML: The Rifter is shipping on July 15, right?

Siembieda: Rifter is July 15

-Palladium Website-

Siembieda: We;ve decided to really update the web site by changing providers. We'll be adding the ability to buy stuff on line with credit cards as well as adding a chat room

Siembieda: We're gonna use Java chat I think

-BTS, Heroes, Nightbane-

ShawnM011: Any word on Beyond the Supernatural, Heros Unlimited and Nightbane?

Siembieda: Delphenisus guide is for Heroes, right now we have to get ahold of Kevin Hassall and find out whats going on with Nightbane, the new BTS won't be out until next year

GabePML: Okay, PR questions... when was TMNT due out, again? I might pick that up since I missed 1E.

Siembieda: The problem with TMNT is we have to have everything approved by Mirage artwork and text so it may take a little while.

Siembieda: We have to put in some new characters from the comic

Ghoull: Does that usually take a long time, or are they generally quick about it?

Siembieda: It depends on the mood they're in, sometimes is nice and easy other times they go off on a tangent and make us change all sorts of stuff

Siembieda: Same thing with Harmony Gold and Robotech

-Rifts 2nd Ed. etc..-

ExoKnight: Howabout RIFTS 2nd Edition? Or revised?

Siembieda: Not this year and I don't know about next, but we have been discussing it.

Siembieda: Another thought I had was to do an RCC and OCC compendium for Rifts, what do you guys think?

(General Outrage in the Crowd about the ideas of Rifts 2nd Ed. and the Compedium)

Siembieda: Thats what I thought, but a bunch of people brought it up so we we're kicking it around

Siembieda: Thats true, it could delay things

-Current Book List-

ExoKnight: Siembieda>What are the plans for the rest of the year?

Siembieda: As for the rest of the year, we're gonna spread the wealth a little, of course Russia is next with Mystic Russia after, then Western Empire, Old Kingdom books, Australia, Canada, Free Quebec, Anvil Galaxy, Delphenisus Guide to the Galaxy, Scotland, and so on

-Novels-

ShawnM011: Any good news (hopefully) on the novels?

Siembieda: We want to do the novels bad!!! We may end up doing smaller press runs of 20-30,000 our selves if necessary

-Computer-

Ghoull: Any word on the minis/computer games?

Siembieda: As for the computer games we're waiting for an update soon

-Freelancer and Editor Talk-

Siembieda: We've tried using other main editors and the books have turned out to be less than what we wanted

Siembieda: We prefer to late than to put out something we can't be proud of

Siembieda: Thats why we can maintain our #3 (and sometimes #2) status

Siembieda: Its nice having manuscripts in and waiting to be edited. Rather than waiting for them.

Siembieda: It took a long time but we're finally finding good freelance writers

ShawnM011: How heavy is the backlog of unedited manuscripts?

Siembieda: We have about eight waiting to be worked on right now, but three or four will be quick easy edits

ExoKnight: Any chance of getting C.J. Carella back with Myrmidon being ran into the ground?

Siembieda: No thank you

ExoKnight: He was a blessing, actually put out some nice stuff.

GabePML: LOL

Siembieda: A little over powered though

Siembieda: CJs a talented guy, I wish him well in what ever it is he's doing now

GabePML: It pretty much says, "Yeah, he wrote some really powerful crap, but we've heard it, so don't bring it up"

-Cons-

Siembieda: Those of you near Spokane WA in October have to come see us at the con the 17th,18th & 19th

-The Life of Maryann-

ShawnM011: How often do you get to game Maryann?

Siembieda: Not very often, we usually work 12-16 hours a day 6 days a week.

Siembieda: Thats why when we decide to go on vacation we just go

Siembieda: We've been doing this for 18 years, we just really love what we do

ShawnM011: That why you just run screaming from the office.

Siembieda: At times

Siembieda: Ask Wayne, he knows when to duck and cover:)

Siembieda: But that is why once a year I'm allowed to run away for two weeks to a quiet secluded cruise ship with no one but me around

Siembieda: Its only once a year though and I usually come back to utter termoil

TIC PF Forum: (enough Acronyms? ;) Magistrate Lee of the PF Townhall Forum informs us that he, with his oh so swank high magistrate power, has created a PF TIC Forum.  TIC = Talk in Character.  I've gotten the first post up there (Woohoo!..sorry, it's those little things in life) and have tryed to get things going with a storyline of sorts and was thinking about making the Official TIC Forum Homepage.  What ya think, should I?  Anyway, go ahead and check out this sweet new place of lov'n! ;) -Rehlman

Poll: The question was "Which Palladium Fantasy Ed. do you like more?" and the results.. *drumming sound*

1st Ed: 4 votes - 40%

2nd Ed: 6 votes - 60%

The new Poll is already up!  Let me know if you have any problems with it working correctly. -Rehlman

Wishing Well: Well, I got one more wish in and you can check it out at the Well. -Rehlman

More BTS: Played even more BTS last night.  We finished off the last adventure and started a new one already and in this adventure we had our first combat.  We were ambushed by three demon type things as we were walking through the forest.  The result: Archanist-Unconscious with a broken arm, Nega-Psionic (me)-badly injured with claw and bite lacerations all over my body, N.P.C. Military officer- Badly hurt with a majorly messed up shoulder, and Weapons Expert just slightly scaved.  In other words, we didn't do too well ;) Right now we're laying low waiting for medical help in the forest. -Rehlman

Breaking News!!:  Thanks goes out to Midnght for passing along this letter from Maryann.

Okay the Palladium Web Page is going to be going up and down like a yo-yo for the next four or five days. We've moved it to a new server with lots of new stuff. We will now have two chat rooms (one Java, one Volano) and as long as everyone behaves themselves we'll keep them going and hopefully do some extra stuff with them. We'll also be able to take credit cards on line now to make ordering stuff easier. There will also be a new Guest Book. I would appreciate anyone who pops by to sign it, if you do you'll be put on our handy dandy mailing list for good stuff. Also, I'll be adding a new email address to reach us at. The aol address will still be active and we'll still do our monthly aol chats, this will jut be an added perk. Anyone who's sent me new addresses for the web pages recently please resend them cause I misplaced a bunch of paper and I want to make sure I have them all. Well thats about it for now, more details later:)

@11:36 A.M. CST:

PBeM Announcement:  Yanked this off of the Listserver, check it out if you're looking for a Palladium Fantasy PBeM game. -Rehlman

Hi gang, I've been on this list for almost two years now and I've had my times of being a poster and a lurker. At times I complain how it is soooo hard to get my friends together for a game. Once a month would make me so happy but it never happens. I've been wanting to play a decent PBEM game but in the past my character was never accepted or the game failed. Tonight is the night I wish to change that folks. I wish to be the GM of a new PBEM campaign.  It'll be the first PBEM I've ever done. But I have the storyline and If people want to play (and bear with me while I learn how to do it) we'll have a great time. I watch the list every night and I CAN and WILL post responses when needed and go to the next scene every few days (weekends excluded if you wish). What do you say people....do you wish to be in a campaign?

I need some responses ....

Bannockburn: For all you Braveheart fanatics, yesterday was the anniversary of the day that Scotland won the battle of Bannockburn, and won their freedom from England. -Rehlman

Nutter Art: Ron's on fire!  He just put out the Gallery version "Vampire Touch" of his Diablo sketch.  Check it out!

@1:36 A.M. CST:

Hmm...: I know I'll be getting some mail about this update... hehe, Enjoy!!! ;) -Rehlman

Freelance Love'n: That's right!, one more freelancer submitted to my cry of domination over the world.  Muahahaha!!  I went to the local Craft Show and found Randi Cartier and broke her will until she answered all of my hard hitting, academically smashing, personally inquisitive questions of love!  Ok, I begged her to do it like the rest...sigh..

You have to love Randi, she's one of the great net personalities out there!  Now go check out Randi at the Freelancer's Database.  Of course you say your going there "because of the article" but we all know you're really to going be staring at the oh so sweet and sleek page layout and design ;) -Rehlman

Wishing Well:  You thought it was gone, but the Well seems to have made a come back and it's badder then ever!  Heck, it's used so much it has more cent's in it, then I have in me (ok, that was bad).  Anyway, go ahead and check out the latest and greatest wish added to it! -Rehlman

BTS Mania:  Man, playing a new character can be so refreshing, especially in a whole different dimension.  The Beyond the Supernatural dimension.  For those of you who are unknowing to the BTS world Ash described it perfectly and simply for all of us to understand... Watch Ghostbusters, that's the BTS world in a nutshell.  I made my guy last night and I fumbled through the 6 or 7 different OCC's for at least an hour or two trying to pick out what I wanted to be.  I tell you it was agonizing!  I finally decided to be a real challenge, one that I hoped to live up too, the Nega-Psychic.  The nega-psychic is the total BTS oxymoron.  He uses psionic powers, but uses them defensively and he doesn't even know about it, and he's out to prove that the supernatural, magic, psionics, etc.. do NOT exist and everything can be explained scientifically, in fact, that fact is permanently ingrained into his head.  All the other P.C.C.'s / O.C.C.'s take the supernatural for granted and use it to some extent.  I worked out my biggest history ever, I mean, this sucker is complete.  I started typing it out and it's over a page already and I haven't even gotten to mention my guy yet (It's in story format), but I did a summary of the background for Ash (our swank BTS GM) so we could play.  The 3 P.C.'s are me, a nega-psychic who's out to prove the supernatural doesn't exist, a archanist played by Wallace who is out to prove that the supernatural does exist, and a weapons specialist who's in it for the money.  We make a great team as you can imagine.  We played last night and it was so awesome.  We had a good 3 and half hours of pure Roleplaying, I didn't even need my dice!  We ran into supernatural, like every step of the way so I was having a great time coming up with "scientific" explanations for all of them.  Some of the explanations were so sweet, and a few were, well kinda far out, but an explanation I had damn it!  I think I won most of the time too ;)  It was so much fun pointing out every flaw in the Archanist's spiel and we got some good matches going, of course I always had the last word (no matter how ridiculous that word may have been =)  The weapons specialist is already sick of our bickering ;)  Got to hand it to our GM, Ash, once again, he's da man! -Rehlman

My New Rifts Book: I was having a good ole chat with Kevin again, you forumer's know him as Veknironth, and he pointed out how there's no way human's could control the world being the inferior race they are to the others.  So like the drug addict I am, I started making up a new Rift's book advertisement in our chat.  Here it is straight from chat:

And in our next book we'll be bringing back the life to Rifts.

Entitled "Rifts Revival - The Human Nations"

The basic plot of our book is to explain the joining of all the human nations in a technology so advanced that only their creative minds could make it and still control it. It makes the human race once again the dominant power not through physical evolution, but mental. See the latest and greatest military tactics and weapons including "Resovour" -a liquid created to eat away at anything that is twice as dense as human skin.  Find out about "Greyscale" a revolutionary tactic involving light flashes that damages alien minds and of course the patented "Lee Brigade" a strategically power minded bot that automatically locates the weakest point in the opponents body or exoskeleton and delivers a shocking blow.

That's right, there's nothing like it!

Of course we won't even mention...well..maybe.. ok, the "Spatial Deflection Error System"... which is so powerful that any weapon delivering more damage the human body can harness in one blow, is stored into the armour and deflected back at the opponent with your next attack!!!!

That's right this next book is only $2 because we screwed you over with all those other books!

Yep, good ole me taking things beyond the edge ;), what would I do without Rifts..hehe -Rehlman

8 k Hits: ISC is passing 8,000 hits today.  Thanks!!! -Rehlman

Honda Commercial: I know this has nothing to do with RPG's at all, but hell, I figured you wouldn't actually read down this far.  Last night I saw this Honda commercial and it said at the end "Certified Used Honda Cars!"  Now WTF does that mean?  Are they protecting me from accidentally getting a new Honda car...dreaded be the day that mistake was made... This has really got me, I demand an explanation!!! -Rehlman

Wimbledon: Anybody else watching it?  I love it for some odd reason I haven't decided on yet.  The woman's matches are more interesting though, cus well one, they're woman, and two, they actually volley the ball.  Top seated men are all serve, no cool action.  Well Agasi's pretty good though.. -Rehlman

23rd @3:36 P.M. CST:

Into the Abnormal:  With our free food and soda guy... ummm... I mean Neptune ;), on vacation we're going to hop on over to Beyond the Supernatural (BTS) for awhile and put our Heroes and PF campaigns on hold.  I think BTS is one of the sweeter games out there because it has alot of the great Palladium elements, but hasn't been Riftized yet.  I haven't made my character yet, but that should happen either today or tomorrow ;)  I can just hear the theme music now... "Who ya gonna call!? Ghostbusters!" hehe. -Rehlman

Rock the Vote: Let's face it, in America your vote is worth literally nothing, but here at ISC, there's a different story taking shape.  You, yes you, with your one measely vote can still shift the PF Edition Poll by a good ten percentage points!  Awe yeah, everyone can feel important at ISC! ;) -Rehlman

Map Search:  If anybody runs across a more detailed map (major cities, landform names, etc..) of the Palladium World don't be afraid to send it on my way.  Maybe we should get Palladium to make a huge, color poster of the map with some detail, wouldn't that be sweet ;) -Rehlman

Wishing Well: One new wish added to the ole Well. -Rehlman

Nutter Art: The swank daddy of Fantasy art just came out with a wicked new sketch.  Go ahead and check out Diablo! -Rehlman

20th @5:08 P.M. CST:

Palladium Updates:  Maryann of Palladium Books finally got around to updating their website today.  No new press release, but she did get up a FanFAQ section answering a few questions from e-mails to Palladium including the famous Necromancer question.  She also put up a link to the Company Profile from the mainpage, so my little section down below is getting erased.  She also took my suggestion and brought back that swank old ley line walker backround :) -Rehlman

Freelancers: Steve Trustrum had been added to the Freelancers Database bringing us up to a total of 7 freelancers.  Thanks goes out to him and all you other Freelancers keep dem forms comin in! -Rehlman

19th @8:34 P.M. CST:

Poll: Moving on with the swank!  For a long time now I've been looking for a voting poll that I would be able to use over here at ISC.  You see alot of them out on the net, but all the decent polls are done in CGI script, which doesn't do me any good at all since Geocities doesn't allow for CGI.  I basically gave up on the idea until a day or two ago I came across a company that runs CGI script polls off of their server for you, and it's free too, gotta love that.  However, you do have to put up with a couple of ads when you want to see the results, but hey, no biggy.  Right now the poll has it's own page mostly because I didn't know where to go with it, but it should be migrating to the main page sometime in the future :)  I even made the little title picture for the poll... hehe.  You can check in all out on the Poll Page for now, and the first question is up already ;) -Rehlman

Wallpaper: Rehlman just ot some sgweet new Windows 95 wallpaper.  I got sick of the last one, and well, I thought you might enjoy this one too. It's from a computer game that will be coming out sometime in the future called "Black & White".  By the way, this isn't a cutsceen from the game, it's the actual game.  Got this from Next Generation. -Rehlman

@8:11 P.M. CST:

Commentary: Well hello out there.  As of lately I just haven't been in the updating groove, I'm sorry bout that, but it just happens every now and then.  Today I got all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled and even now as I sit at the computer I'm bleeding and haven't eaten since yesturday..oh joy...  Ash and Ihsan will be gone all weekend camping which should hopefully be a good time, and Neptune just left this morning on a 3 week trip to Canada where he'll visit a whole bunch of his net friends, which he only has about a 1000 of.  He also gets to go to the biggest Anime Con. up in Canada.  I'm drueling with envy over that one.  I told him to pick me up something about Fushugi Yuugi, so hopefully I'll get something out of the deal :) Other then that, progress has come pretty slowly over here.  Hopefully things will pick up. -Rehlman

Shawn Merrow: That great guy you know as Shawn who's been in the Rifter not once, but twice already, dropped on by and let me in on what he scored on the Purity Test.  A 52.94%.  Not too shabby ;)  Go ahead and take the PF Purity Test to see how you compare with da man! :) -Rehlman

Graveyard Duty: We've been getting some crap from the graveyard form that I don't like.  You know who you are, for the rest of the people who are in the majority and are some really great people can skip right over this and I apologize to you for what has to be said for the minority.

So here are the rules once again...

#1- Always fill out the entire form, and always fill it out completely.  You MUST enter your name (even if it is only your web handle) and e-mail (everybody has one) in there so I know that you're serious about this character and so I can get ahold of you if I have questions, they will not be posted unless you specify that you want them posted!.  Since none of the last few entries had real e-mails I'm trashing the whole bunch of them!

#2- If your character is way beyond the ordinary, pick a spot on the form and just take 5 seconds to explain why and how.  You wouldn't believe the off the wall stuff we get.

I want this graveyard to work because we've put way to much time into it but if you can't handle using a fragg'n form maturely then something will have to be done.  Now, if those of you who submitted characters for the graveyard want to fill out the ENTIRE form, I'll be more then happy to put the character up. Thanks! -Rehlman

16th @1:16 P.M. CST:

Sir Garland: Ash found a really great poem titled "Eldorado" by Edgar Allen Poe, which we both thought was symbolistic of the life that Sir Garland leads.  The poems layout may change yet (long story), but it'll always be there in some way, shape, or form.  Check it out! -Rehlman

Freelancer: We just got one more of Palladiums Freelancer's entered into the Freelancer Database.  Big thanks goes out to Gabriel for his time. -Rehlman

Swank Site: Well, every once in a while I'll run across another site or two that have been top notch on the net for quite a while, that of course, I never even knew about them.  Be sure to check out Gabriel's The Garden, which is by far the best website I've come across that focuses on most of Palladium's main games (Rifts, PF, Nightspawn..). -Rehlman

15th @1:30 P.M. CST:

Character Drawings: Just noticed this, we have pictures for all of our present Palladium Characters!  Drawn by Ron Nutter we have Rashidi, K'traal, and Coren.  Drawn by Rich we have Drog and Sir Garland.  You have to love Ron and Rich ;) -Rehlman

Section Below: A couple sections down on this page I've added links to the Palladium Profile pages, that section will remain there until Maryann puts the correct links on the Palladium Books mainpage which will be done as of the next update of the Palladium Website.  She has already been told, so do not e-mail her. -Rehlman

Listserver: Well, after all the bad press I've been giving the PF Listserver the last few days, I'd like to mention that it's pulled through fairly well and in the last couple of days it's gotten 2-3 new members with all new ideas.  Also, the listserver is allowing AOL users with their accounts ending in #'s to start posting again.  It has implemented new Spam guards and has switched servers.  Heres is what the Listserver Hostmaster Clemens had to say about it.

Recent attempts at abusing our servers for the purposes of relaying and sending SPAM email have shown up some weaknesses in our systems.

To plug the loopholes we have had to move your list to another listserver.

This would also explain some of the delays experienced over the last weekend. We apologize sincerely for those delays, however, under the circumstances they were unavoidable.

Now the recent rage on the listserver has been the Acknowledgment message that you receive when you post to the listserver, and the majority off the subscribers, including me, want it off.  Here's the latest from the Clemens from the listserver. -Rehlman

But, just to set your mind at ease, the ACK has been set to OFF for the Palladium List.

At this stage it is a list-wide option rather than a user option. If you are interested in finding out more about the listserver software we are using now, visit the following page:

14th @7:35 P.M. CST:

Car Story: Ok, story time.  This has nothing to do with anything btw.  My parents have been wanting to get a new mini-van for sometime now, so they started hunting around everywhere for what they wanted.  Last Thursday they finally found this sweet dark green '98 Chevy Astro Mini-Van.  This has absolutely  everything you could want in a van and even more.  They were all excited and went to go pick it up on Friday morning when it was supposed to be all ready, because I guess they still had to do some junk on it like rust-proofing and whatever else they do to those new cars.  Anyway, they got there and it wasn't done.  The parents weren't happy at all, they ended up coming home in some cheap-ass rental car.  I was like screw this, let's put some miles on this baby!  It came with a full tank of gas, I was ready to just drive it around until it had just enough gas to get back the dealership.  My parents, however, didn't, but I did end up useing it to go golfing that aft. with my dad.  The whole time we were just waiting for the damn thing to just fall apart.  We got back from golfing and the dealer had tried dropping off the van while we were gone, but couldn't because we had the rental :).  So he went back and later on that night my parents went and picked up the van.  I got my first good look at it then, it was pretty sweet.  The only thing is, is that when I turned on the engine and left it in park for like 3 minutes, you could have cooked an egg on the hood.  That was the end of that until today.  My parents figured today they'd drive it on the highway for awhile just to see how it did.  They got like 2 miles down the road and the alternator went out!  So they called a tow truck and had it hauled back to Bergstrom where they got it.  Nobody was there (Sunday) so they just left the keys with the van for them to figure it out.  F U Chevy!  Gee, just can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.... -Rehlman

Updates: The Wishing Well has had yet another wish added too it.  The Heroes Timeline has also been updated. -Rehlman

Top Tens: Kevin "The Rift's Basher" Thorn came up some sweet new top ten lists about what else?... Bashing Rifts..So of course I thought they were funny.  Even if you do like Rifts, I think you'll still be laughing at them ;)  Check 'em out! -Rehlman

Nutter Art:  That snazy guy you know as Ron Nutter has been at it again.  He colorized the sketch of the elven archer for his gallery and has been kind enough to let me use the picture to represent what K'traal pretty much looks like.  He's also retouched his Gypsy picture and it is looking oh so very swank.  Check out Ron's spiffed website to see all of his drawings o' love'n! -Rehlman

13th @4:06 P.M. CST:

Conspiracy Theory:  Hmm, I wonder if the guys who were a part of the old listserver are going to start up a new, closed  membership listserver to share ideas.  Just an idea, of course we'll never know, will we ;) -Rehlman

I Stand Corrected: (Refers to post below) Sorry, I guess there is a link to the Company Profile buried in the mist of the Palladium FAQ.  Still, you'd think such a sweet section would be mentioned on the Palladium Homepage.  Heh, back to feeling like a moron ;) -Rehlman

Palladium Profile: Am I the only one who noticed when Palladium took down their Company Profile section of their website?  While, I inquired to Maryann as to why she took it down, and she simply stated that it was there.  So feeling like a moron, I went to go look for it, and guess what, I couldn't.  So, I tried the URL that I figured it would be at if it was still uploaded and guess what... it's there!  I've already told Maryann that she's missing the link and I'm sure she'll get that fixed sometime in the future.  As for now if you want to check out this little treasure, you can see the Company Profile Here.  You can also check out the entire Palladium Staff.  Both of these pages are hosted off of Palladium's site, not ISC's.  Now who's bringing you the love...huh?..Awe yeah, that's right ;) -Rehlman

Another one gone: Ok, ok.. I'll stop mentioning who's leaving the listserver.  I just have to mention one last person who's leaving.  Steve Edwards a.k.a the freelancer who's writing the Domain of Man (Eastern Kingdom) Sourcebook just dropped from the list.  If you still want to get ahold of him, or Bill Coffin and Shawn Merrow, all of their e-mail address's are in the Freelancers Database.  Man, another big loss...sigh... -Rehlman

12th @1:38 P.M. CST:

Just In: Man, I just got done uploading the site, when I get another e-mail from the listserver from Vortex who was relaying messages from Shawn M. and Nexx saying that the Listserver's partially banning AOL accounts.  It seems they are having problems with accounts that end in #'s for the user name "because they spam to much".  Who knows what other accounts got banned.  Both Shawn (who has helped me on numerous occasions) and Nexx are dropping from the list.  Both of them will be missed. -Rehlman

Purity Test: Some of ya have been asking.  "Rehlman, since you're like a Palladium God, what did you get on the Purity Test?"  Well, maybe they didn't even say anything close to that ;), but I did score a 62% on the test.  Damnit, I need to find a way to get my name in that test ;)  Now, go ahead and take the PF Purity Test, but remember if you don't score as good as me, I was the one who wrote the questions, so I had a bit of an advantage over ya.  If you do score better then me, well, I bow down before ye me lord ;) -Rehlman

PF Listserver Woes: For those of you who don't know, and might care, here's the story behind whats happening with the listserver.  Allison Higgins, soon to be Allison Coffin, sent a message telling us about a new E-mail virus out there that would take effect as soon as you open the letter.  From what I can tell, she was kindly informed over the list that you must actually open the application attached to the e-mail for this virus to take effect (I learned something new).  I guess privately, she was flamed by some unknowns on listserver.  She got ticked off and dropped from the list.  This all happened yesturday.  Now today I get a message saying that Bill Coffin (the only prtson that I actually read every post from, and who I consider to be the life of the listserver) has decided to leave the list also.  Now it seems Ted Stapleton is gone also.  Time will only tell what the future will hold.  Hopefully all 3 will join again. -Rehlman

Time for Change: Man, this sucks, I need a new layout ;)  Only 3 days ago I posted that Interview with Maryann, and already it's baried with the rest of my useless ramblings in the older news.  I suppose I could just mention the interview over and over again here with some cheap excuse to mention it...nahhh ;) -Rehlman

Freelancers Page = Freelancers Database: Just doing my part to keep the world in constand confusion ;)  Changed the name, cause it sounds better. -Rehlman

11th @11:58 P.M. CST:

Freelancers: I've added two more freelancer's to...err well, the Freelancer's Page ;)  Big thanks goes out to Jason Richards and David Max Haendler for taking the time to answer the questionare. -Rehlman

Adventuring: I'm slowly catching up on the PF Exploits.  I got a bit more of them written up today, not my best work, but sure as a hell lot better then when I first started keeping logs of our adventures ;).  Neptune's informed me that his computer froze up while he was writing the Heroes Exploits and he's had to start quite a ways back again, but he'll get them down eventually, of course his will be great reading (After all, he is only writing a book ;).  Oh yeah, and I promise to switch around the page so the load up time isn't so big, sorry bout that.  -Rehlman

Feel the Love: I don't know about the rest of you people but to me both the Forum and the PF Listserver have been getting kinda harsh lately, I'm refering to a certain, different string in both of them.  I'm not sure what caused this phenomenon, but surely it will right itself and once again we'll be getting the love from both of them.  Net etiquette is always appreciated for those of you who forgot ;) -Rehlman

Freelancer Form: This morning after returning from the Dentist (I'm going to be getting all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled, that should be fun...) I worked on getting up the swanked Freelancer Submit Form for the Freelancers Page.  It doesn't look the best, but damnit, it works ;) -Rehlman

10th @10:38 P.M. CST:

G.M. things: I spent a good part of my day after work setting up the adventure for the next PF meeting so I didn't get around to doing too much around the website.  I think it should be required that every player in a group GM at least one adventure so they know what kind of effort goes into it, we have in our group since we used to rotate GM's.  Right now , however, I've been doing all of the PF adventures for the longest time and Ash has been GMing the Heroes adventures for an eternity.

Pretty slow news day otherwise, I've checked the usual sites and not much is happening, of course I've been known to miss things also ;) -Rehlman

Hits: 50+ hits to this site for the past 3 days.  Thanks =) -Rehlman

9th @11:58 P.M. CST: ISC RE-OPENS!!!

Meeting: Just got back from a Heroes meeting.  Right now Ash is running the adventure with Mr. Bionic in it.  The adventure's all messed up ;)  Well, not the adventure, just the NPC's in the adventure.  Oh yeah, our Heroes group is finally starting to gain some fame in N.Y.C., although I'm not exactly sure that's a good thing. -Rehlman

New Site: Sir C of the Townhall Forum just recently started a page all about the Economics in Palladium.  I read through it already and I'm really happy to see he's doing something different then most of the sites in the Palladium fan-based world of webpages.  Go ahead and check it out! -Rehlman

Graveyard: About 5 minutes ago I just got a submission for the PF graveyard so I transfered him to html and he's up already.  Feel free to take a lookie at Damion Silverblade, a level 8 human knight. -Rehlman

@6:03 P.M. CST:

Commentary:  Well, whacha think?  By now you've had a chance to peruse some of the new stuff that we have, but baby, the funs only begun! ;)  In the interview below, one of the questions really hit home for PF.  PF is both Kevin's and Maryann's first love.  Hehe, take it Rifts! -Rehlman

The Black Leather Turncoat: Ash completed Chapter 2 of the spiffed Heroes story about Dark Rider's dealings with the Fabricators.  Make sure to check out Chapter 1 first though if you haven't already.  Big thanks goes out to Ash! -Rehlman

@12:00 A.M. CST

A Moment For Us: Well, this is it, ISC has been open for exactly 1 year!  I'd like to send out a thanks to Kevin Thorn, The guys and gals on the Palladium Townhall Forum and on the Listserver, Ron Nutter, Rich, Maryann Siembieda, Bill Coffin, Randi Cartier, Shawn Merrow, Steve Edwards, everybody else (sorry if I forgot you), and of course, all of you who come and see the page on a daily basis.  I really like to thank my kickass roleplaying group who consists of Ash, Neptune, Ihsan, and Wallace, for all the shit they put up with from me and all the help they give me with the site.

A little about the site:  I originally began this site when I saw what could be done by my friends over at Wallace's and Sir Edricks (Neptune's) Domain.  But I also saw room for improvment (no offense guys ;) so I went at it with Wallace showing me how to do everything in the early stages.  I worked on it damn hard, learning as I went, just trying to get my counter past theirs ;).  Well, over time, the page evolved into something I like to deem respectable, and I'm damn proud to say that it's the most updated Palladium Fantasy page on the net, and in my own very bias opinion, the best PF page on the net.   A while back ago, I constructed a page of what I remembered the site to look like when I first started it.  Feel free to take a lookie here (I just underlined where the links used to be, and took out the actually link).  I think I've come quite a ways.  Over the time, I fought with using frames or not, and not using them has always won, which is a good thing I think.  As of lately, I've broken in on the picture making scene, I made that banner you saw on the index page for the last 4 days ;)  Pretty soon I plan to brake out of the chains of the web editor I use right now, and go straight to notepad.  I've also gotten Wallace over here, and he's going to start updating soon also.  I can only look forward and there's still so much I want to do.  You can also help make this place better by sending in graveyard characters, wishes, news, articles, or just e-mailing us and telling us what sections you like the best so we know where to head in the future.  Otherwise, feel free to mail us just for the hell of it.  For the opening I've already streamlined this site to make it 100% Palladium, no more Magic: The Gathering stories, no more strategy games section, no more Psychic Harddrive viewer (It doesn't work with Netscape 4.05 anyway) and no more "Look what the worlds come too" page (Even though that page rocked!) Now ISC is100% Palladium Baby!

I truly hope you enjoy all we have to offer through our countless hours of unpaid work.  I'm not going to dwell on the past though, we're only moving forward, I hope you'll join us daily for the next year, and there after.  Now on to what I promised you...some really kickass stuff!

Oh yeah, we'll be getting more stuff up as the day goes on ;) -Rehlman

Interview: First off, a couple weeks ago I got a chance to interview Maryann Siembieda about everything that's happening at palladium books and some stuff happening with Palladium Fantasy.  Here's one of the questions I asked that she answered:

In all honesty, what is your favorite Palladium role-playing game?

Want the answer? Check out the Interview ;) -Rehlman

Freelancers: Do you know who's been writing the material you have and will be playing out of for some time to come???  Here's a chance to find out a little bit more about some of Palladiums Freelancers.  Thanks goes out to Bill, Shawn and Steve for taking the time to help me out. -Rehlman

Purity Test: So, you think you're Palladium's #1 fan?  Do you worship the company and the material that they put out?  Here's your chance to prove it: Just how obsessed are you with Palladium Fantasy?  Find out how you rank on the Palladium Fantasy Purity Test! -Rehlman

New Banner: I like to thank Ron Nutter for supplying us with a new banner for the occasion.  Go Ron! ;) -Rehlman

Geocities: As much as I love to hate Geocities for those stupid pop-up adds, I can't deny that they've been an excellent server over the past year, and for ISC's 1 year anniversary they're giving all homepages in Geocities 11 MB's of free space, that's 5 more then before!  Ok, well, maybe not because of this page, but we do actually get the space ;) -Rehlman

PLE: Lictalon of the PF Listserver has started a Palladium Link Exchange.  It uses a banner rotater ala Link Exchange or Geoguide.  So, in order to join, you have to have: 1) A website and 2) A banner for your website.  I would offer to help you make a banner but right now I'm not the best at making them and I don't have the time right now, sorry.  If your interested, do him a favor and at least check it out  Here is an excerpt from one of his messages:

"~down on hands and knees~ please I'm begging you!!! Join it! Put a few lines of HTML on your page! That 's all I'm asking! ~sob, sob~

-a desperate Lictalon"

Come'n give it a shot, maybe I'll even get off my lazy butt and set it up sometime ;)  -Rehlman

4th @11:00 A.M. CST:

Adventuring: I got even more of our PF exploits typed up.  I'm a bit behind, but it seems like the more and more I type, the less farthur I get.... who knows, anyway enjoy! -Rehlman

K.T. Updates: Kevin Thorn just updated his site with another spiffed story.  Check 'er out! -Rehlman

Graduation: Personal note here...I just graduated from Highschool today ;) I got the whole mixed emotions thing going, but life must move on.  Oh yeah, Neptune, Ash, and Wallace all graduated with me.  We'll be going are separate ways this fall, but not too far so we'll still be able to get in some good 'ole fashioned RPG'ing ;) -Rehlman

Posters: Palladium, in all their swankiness, decided to send out posters to all us Rifter subscribers.  There's one for Palladium Fantasy which is really wicked, it shows a battle scene of human soldiers against one of the monster races, orc I think.  And then there one for Rifts..it sucks ;)  Ok fine, it's pretty cool also. -Rehlman

PBEM: For those of you who can't get a game around you.. there's always a PBEM somewhere to join.. Here's one more that will be starting soon for you to check out.  This was posted on the Listserver. -Rehlman

I will be running a PBEM starting in late july. If any one is interested in joining the fun let me know. I will be sending out a prep to the world and senerio in later june for people to look at and to see if they are interested.

Guido Son of Sarducci (a.k.a. Charles Ashcraft)

E-mail him if you're interested at: cashcraft@top.net

2nd @4:55 P.M. CST:

Forum Watch: Kevin "I'm a college graduate" Thorn pointed out a real sweet string on the PF forum to me.  It's called Good and Evil. after you get done reading that string, head up to the Wrap-up Comment on Morality post and read that whole string, which is actually just an extension of the first string. -Rehlman

Palladium Chat: Well, as you may recall, I posted the news about the last chat, oh, about a half-hour before it started.  ShawnM011 of the Listserver looked up the next chat with Maryann, and it will be held on June 23rd at 9:00pm ET.  So get out those calendars and mark it down ;)  To be present at the chat, you must have AOL though, or a substitute for it.  Here's what ShawnM011 had to say about it:

"From my checking there is no way to participate in a AOL chat without being a member. Though AOL does have a pricing plan called bring your own connection ($9.95 a month). That plan allows you to use there software through your ISP."

Maryann has already refused to switch chat programs, because she doesn't have enough time to learn all the new commands.  Here's a hint: If you want to make the chat, and don't feel like paying AOL anything, just use 1 of those 30 AOL CD's that you get in the mail with all the free time on them ;) -Rehlman

Slamming Microsoft: Bill Gates, that guy who makes more in a single second then the rest of us put together will make this year, has been getting all the love from the PF-list lately.  I wouldn't normally post these, but for MS, I'll do anything :) -Rehlman

"You know, I visited the site using Microsoft Explorer, so I'm gonna chalk this up to Microsoft building a poor browser. (Hell, even if that's not the problem, I won't let that stop me from slamming Microsoft. have a nice time in court, you big bullies!) Anyway, I'll check it out again from home."

Bill

"Everyone, listen. I have just downloaded Inter Explorer (Exploiter) 4.0. it sucks! People, it is not an improvement. It runs a tad faster, but other than that it's horrible!!!!!!! IE 3 ruled, but I'd take Netscape (ugh!) over this crap!!!!! Don't download it!"

-Lictalon

Nutter Art: I was talking to Ron and he informed me that the picture of the elven archer wasn't one of K'traal, just an character he drew.  But dammit, I say it's K'traal, so :P -Rehlman
