Sincerity is a red herring It should be cherished, not quarantined. Like the keys on a piano, It can be molded... Into either a masterpiece, Or a song satisfactory for only the tone deaf. In the end, maybe we're all guilty Of playing other peoples' feelings, and confessions out of tune. We learn to love, then learn to let go, And these lessons become inexhaustible. On the other hand, the latter lesson Is most difficult when the former Is proven to be genuine. Even worse, what if we were abandoned Because of that loving feeling Leaving us to dedicate our songs of sincerity To the errant hearts that refuse to be ours. It's unfair, yeah, but the show must go on Just as life does, and just as we need to. We are everyday angels, so allow the Symphonies of your hearts to play freely, Someone will appreciate your sincerity... this was originally written on August 18, 1999.
