Intro5/27/1999 - Official word is now the 29th for stores to receive LUNAR. I assume the same delays as the demo, so if you got it quickly before, you may have it the 29th or 30th. I don't expect mine until Tuesday :( . 5/19/1999 - Working Designs has upgraded the packaging again. This is, of course, a good news / bad news situation. It is good because now the discs are going to be full-color instead of two-color, low resolution. It is bad because it has yet again delayed the release. According to Vic, it has delayed it another 7-10 days, pushing the release to 5/28 or so. Well, at least we have the demo! 5/15/1999 - A note about gaining bunches of levels in the demo. The bosses become harder as your level increases, but only to level 50. After that, you can swat them like flies (Mwah ha haaaa!). 5/1/1999 - Sony approved Lunar today, so it is on the way to manufacturing. Looking back at the Working Designs message board, it takes about 2 weeks for the manufacturing, another for "fulfilment" (adding boxes and manuals), and then a few days for shipment. Expect LUNAR in the stores near May 20th -- I just can't wait! Ok, I can, but I don't want to!! 4/21/1999 - Hoo boy! I got mine! I just ran down to Babbages and picked up my copy. Finally, I will be able to drool over the game and the animations. I'll start filling in sections (walkthrough, Q&A, etc.) later. For now, I've gotta play. 4/19/1999 - Official word from Working Designs about the demo and game is on their web site; demo expected in stores starting Monday, 4/19; if you pre-ordered from WD, they ship with Priority Mail from the USPS. I'll post when I go pick mine up (at Babbages)! 4/15/1999 - Vic was on Usenet, and said that the GAME IS FINISHED!! You can read the article with DejaNews, or just take my word for it. Final approval takes from two weeks to a month (from what I've heard), so the end of April is looking pretty optimistic. However, now it is just a waiting game for WD. 4/15/1999 - Lunar demo has completed production, and is shipping. Expect it in stores Saturday or Monday. 4/13/1999 - Wow! Two updates in two days! WD discussion board news again, from Victor Ireland, stating that the game is scheduled for Sony approval on 4/14/1999. Whether WD meets that, and if Sony approves it on the first try, is still to be seen. If everything goes right, then the game is out the first week of May. You can read the original message by clicking. 4/12/1999 - More news from the WD discussion board, from
Victor Ireland (WD CEO and spokesman), stating that the demo
IS in production at Sony. Sony has not given WD a final word
on when it will be finished in production, so WD has not posted a
date. The last estimate WD received from Sony was 4/15 or 4/16
(Thursday or Friday), which would put the demo in the stores between
4/16 and 4/19 (between Friday and Monday). Watch the
Working Designs news
page for a post soon. 3/25/1999 - Found a message on the official Working Designs message board from 3/24/1999 from Victor Ireland (Working Designs CEO and spokesman); read it here. He states that the game is still in final testing, but expects the game to go to Sony on April 9. From other discussions on the WD board, Sony takes two weeks, but they kick back almost everything the first time. So, I still expect a month after that. The latest word on the Working Designs release page is that they are hopeful for a release the end of April. Keep watching! 3/15/1999 - Found a Usenet discussion from 3/12/1999 involving Victor Ireland (Working Designs CEO and spokesman); read it here. He gives more information about the (now confirmed) demo, including a comment that the saves will be compatible between the demo and the real game! Yeah! Watch the official Working Designs site (the news page) for an imminent announcement about the availability of the demo! 3/15/1999 - In another Usenet discussion, Vic was talking about the audio CD that will be included in the Lunar package; it will contain 23 tracks for about 60 minutes of music. It makes working so much more fun when you play video game music in the background! 3/12/1999 - Rumors of a Lunar demo have been confirmed by GameLord (a site run by Babbage's and Software Etc.). Check out the link for a blurb about a free demo disk for those that pre-purchase the game. Want more information? Just click! 2/16/1999 - Found a Usenet discussion involving Victor Ireland (Working Designs CEO and spokesman); read it here. He reports they are about two weeks from completion (about 3/2/1999?), and he expects a release in late March or early April. Waaaahh!! I want my Lunar! 2/4/1999 - Added the Working Designs movies to this site, in Real Media format. Check out the movies on the Media page! 1/28/1999 - Started this site! Target date for releasing Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete on the Playstation is still not firm. Current estimates range from 1/13/1999 (oops, missed that one) to March, 1999, to "1st Quarter 1999" -- that's the official date posted on the Working Designs web site.
