Twisted Werewolf Hunter

This is my character in Kevin Powe's Feng Shui campaign, In A Lonely Place.

Concept

Hartmann is a vampire who hates werewolves. These monsters must die, every last one of them. They are an affront to everything considered worthy in the world. That they can consider themselves capable of wresting control of the Rainy City from vampires is hubris of the first order.

"I will remove the werewolf threat from the City once and for all."

Background

Joseph Hartmann was introduced to the vampiric world during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, in which Otto von Bismark manipulated European politics to create a war between Germany and France. Bismark's forces marched from Berlin to Paris is six weeks. Hartmann was 31 years old.

In Germany at the time, a popular movement known as Volkisch sought a return to the glory days of the nations pagan past. One of these groups was led by an ancient vampire who, seeing Hartmann's patriotic zeal, turned him into an undead. Over the years, Hartmann has transposed his patriotism for this native land into an equally ardent fervour for his new species.

Hartmann is the epitome of old-world cutlure and refinement. he always dresses immaculately, understanding the complexities of social and political interaction in the Rainy City, and, when he must, prefers to fence with his delicate sword cane rather than using anything as clumsy as a firearm. However, when enraged, all pretense of civility falls away and his true nature emerges -- he's nothing more than a blood drinking beast. In this state of being, he is much more like the werewolves he hates so intensely than he is like the vampires he regards as his kin.
