Chrono Trigger Other

Other..hints

Sometimes, you'll get stuck and need an extra push. That's what this is for! A few extra secrets and hints to get yourself moving.

<bgsound src="600AD.mid" loop=infinite>

First up, the get-better-armor secret. Ya know those black boxes that play an obnoxious little tune when you touch them and say they're closed by a mysterious force? Once you revive the pendant in 12,000 B.C., go back to 600 A.D. in the EPOCH and check out all of the black boxes. There should be.. *thinks* 5. 4 in the villages, and one in the cavern to Magus's castle. You can take the one in the cavern to Magus's castle, there's no evolved form in the future. Go to 1000 A.D., and check out all the boxes. Voilą! They've evolved into much stronger armor. The Black, White, Red, and Blue mails all protect you from Shadow, Lightning, Fire, and Water, in that order. It's 50% less damage, and pretty good defense. Also, check out the place near Guardia Castle for a Speed Tab, the best kinda Tabs. On the underwater route, Heckran Cave, there's another box. Open that one. It's not in 600 A.D. Now, go back to 600 A.D., and open up those boxes again to get the armor! Later in the game, when the EPOCH floats, activate the chests in Cyrus's grave, and then go to 1000 A.D. and do the same as you did before.

You can charm a Speed Tab from the Giga Gaia on the Mountain of Woe.

You can charm Power Tabs from the Tubsters in the Black Omen. Simply charm it (beware of counter attack!), kill it, and come back, and repeat. Mwa. Ha. Ha.

In Dorino Village, 600 A.D., there is a chest that you cannot open because it's locked. If you have the Naga-ette Bromide that was found in the Cathedral, talk to the old geezer

The Son of Sun (Info here) can be quite easily defeat with the armor from Iota village, 65,000,000 B.C. after the EPOCH expansion.

The double tech Frog Flare is the most underrated move in Chrono Trigger. If Frog has anywhere below 500 HP, this attack will do about 3,000 HP to every enemy, more if his HP's lower.

I'm so small!Weak crossbow.. of death!Yay!

After Zeal's destruction, 12,000 B.C., there will be a Nu guarding a tab. If you wait about a minute in there, the Nu will move, allowing you to grab the Magic Tab.

Water summons Wind, Wind makes Fire dance. In Enhasa and Kajar, if you open the books Water first, then Wind, then Fire, you can open up secret rooms. One gets you a rock, the other gets you some tabs.

In Zeal, if you scratch the Nu's back, you can go back to Kajar and scratch the silent Nu for a Magic Tab.

Tell the woman in 12,000 B.C. to plant the plant secretly or you will not be able to get GreenDream WAY later in the game.

When you buy the Jerky, do NOT go to Guardia Castle or you will lose it. Instead, go to 600 A.D. and give it to the woman for FREE or you will not be able to recover the Sun Stone.

By decided not to fight Magus on the peak after you first land the EPOCH after it's improvement, he'll join your party.

That's PROMETHEUS!

In Ozzie's Fort, in the place with the treasure chest being blocked by an axe, don't grab the treasure. Walk to the right, and an imp will come up and be sliced by it. Then take the treasure. But that's not all! Go to the right of the screen and head down into a secret room with some kick-booty armor for Magus and a Magic tab.

In Magus's Castle, the little nameless specks (after falling down that hole) give a ton of XP. There's also a trick to that room. If you step on a sparkly thingy and you can save your game, directly across from that is the way back up. The other two are both the enemies (can't attack you and give over 400 XP per battle, and die easily!). So if you step on one with enemies, directly across from it are more enemies, and the other two left out are the save point and the way out.

The Rocks on the Mountain of Woe and in the buried Tyrano Lair give 1,000 XP, 100 Tech points, and can't attack you. (they just run away and are hard to hit). They're great, but they cast mass unblockable Lock.

The Turrets on the Blackbird also give good XP and tech points, but they can do a little damage to you. They also mass-Lock.

The eyeballs in the Black Omen ALSO give good XP and tech points, but you have to eliminate the small ones first.

All this stuff is sent from Master Vaporeon!

1. There is a Speed Tab behind Toma's Grave.

2. You can Charm Magic Tabs from Aliens (Black Omen)

3. You can Charm Speed Tabs from Panels (Black Omen)

4. You can Charm a Mop from Nu's (Crono's weapon, worst weapon in the game, for it only adds 1 Attack point!)

5. You can Charm Gold Studs (!!) from those red, bat-winged, little annoying cyclops guys that use Absorb in the Black Omen... *tries to remember their name, and hurts brain* If only I could remember their name.... (Peppy's note: Gee, wasn't that helpful?)

6. There is a Magic Tab in the same room as Cyrus's grave in 1000 AD...
