Dan grew up in Dover, NH and excecept for when he has been at college, has lived there all his life. It is a good place to live, big enough to be interesting but small enough to be personable. When he graduated from high school, Dan went to WPI where he studied Computer Science. But things didn't work out there, and Dan transferred to UNH and changed his magor to Physics. Dan was much happier at UNH, and while there he got engaged to Jan but that ended unhappily. When he gradutated, Dan worked at various scientific and technical jobs through a temp agency before being hired by Black Diamond Consulting, where he worked right up until it went bankrupt. Dan is now engaged to Karen Byrnes. The wedding date is set for September 23rd, 2000.
Karen can be reached at Karen@ttlc.net Here is a map of the wedding location, Henry Law Park: as well as directions. Family
CollegeDan attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute before transferring to UNH, in the process changing magors from Computer Science to Physics. WPI was very intellectually stimulating, and it was an excellent growing up experience to attend there. Work
PlayAs covered pretty extensively elsewhere on this web site, it must be clear he indulges in RPGs - Role Playing Games. The reason is mainly because he likes an intellectual challenge. Most of the personas he plays are problem solvers at the core. And when he runs games for others, those that think - particularly about motivations and underlying causes - should do well. Dan also uses those stories in order to explore the effects and ramifications of new inventions or strange societies. Dan is a voracious reader. While in the past his favorite reading matter was hard science fiction (Niven, Asimov, Heinlein, Clark, etc), he has lately been reading a great deal of history. Dan has discovered vast realms of true and fascinating stores. Reading history books, NOT historical fiction, seems much more interesting than how history was presented in high school. Some say that Dan should have been a history teacher, as he briefly relates these stores in ways that several people have reported both informative and interesting. Like the tragic story of a king's arrogance leading to the doom of thousands, and the heroic but futile efforts of a competent and caring duke's efforts to avoid the inevitable disaster (The Spanish Armada). Or how the conscience of one of Hitler's most trusted underlings, combined with the initiative of a handful of brave people, narrowly saved the greatest center of European culture and architecture from total destruction (Is Paris Burning?). Did you know that Paul Revere was briefly captured by the British during the night of his famous ride? The events and repercussions of the Red Dawn at Lexington are as exciting an adventure tale as any fiction. ![]() |
