The Ram-Fighter

When Zolar wants something, nothing can stand in his way. When Zolar wants a top-of-the-line starfighter for his droid Ramses, he doesn't worry about buying it from someone else - he makes it himself.

Built by Zolar near the end of his employment with Vigo Sprax, the Ram-Fighter (as it is known) is a ship built for a single purpose: to be an elite starfighter. After questing for several key components to it (namely salvaged Y-Wings, TIE Fighter and TIE Advanced components, and scrap from old freighters), Zolar constructed this ship with his own hands. The ship resembles a sleek aerospace fighter, with a low-profile streamlined cockpit shape leading back to two large ion engines placed back on the upper-port and starboard flanks. When in space flight, the ship is powered by solar panels that are aligned upwards; however, these panels can fold down into a wing-shape for either combat manuevers or atmospheric flight. The Ram-Fighter is also remarkably small; most of its design is taken up by its ion engines, weapon systems, and a small "living area."

Of course, because the Ram-Fighter was designed for a droid occupant, it doesn't need to worry about certain facts like environmental controls, inertial dampeners, or consumables. The lack of these bulky systems make the Ram-Fighter able to concentrate on engines and weapons systems; as a result, the Ram-Fighter is insanely manuverable, and packs a huge punch for a ship of its size. The living area is set up as a mobile base for Ramses, with a weapons locker, recharge station, a small set of tools, and a space for the Ram-Tank (with a set of doors under it for a "bomb-bay" dropout of Ramses in full fighting form). Its only allowance for other passengers is a fold-down seat.

The Ram-Fighter even exceeded its specs before its first flight. Durandal, in a quick-thinking defense of the M4, took the residual personality matrix in the dismantled Ramses' brain and programmed it into the Ram-Fighter's systems, allowing Ramses to control the ship through mental input. Effectivedly, Ramses "became" the Ram-Fighter. Even after the original Ramses chassis was rebuilt, he retained this ability, and often used it in his later battles for the New Republic, switching between droid body and ship body.
