Profile: The droid now known as Ramses 3000 was designed and built in the era of the Old Republic, when such creations were legal and well-used. He was part of the Eliminator 434 series, originally built for the Trade Federation but scrapped when the Neimodians took interest in the Droideka models. Ramses (then known as RAM-434-3000) was one of the last of the line, and was sold in a bargain auction to private buyers. RAM was bought by Jabba the Hutt, who used him as an assassin (the death of 10,000 innocents at the Caprioril swoop arena is attributed to RAM). When Jabba tried to turn the tables on and kill a group of Jedi investigating the death of their master (also attributed to RAM), the Jedi retaliated against the treacherous slug. In the following chaos, RAM was lost and assumed destroyed. He was found some years later in the basement of Jabba's old palace by the scout Zolar, who reactivated him, declared himself his new master and renamed him Ramses 3000.
Ramses has earned many names over time:
RAM-434, the Black Droid of Death, even Urrestch'Ramsev, the Weequay
god of chaos and destruction. These names should be indicative
to Ramses' forte: blowing things up. Over the years, his original
model has been rebuilt, modified, dismantled, blasted, scorched,
rebuilt again, scratched and modified some more to the point where
not even his designers would likely recognize him. His armor shrugs
off blaster bolts like bullets off
Robocop. Besides his standard-issue blaster cannon and concussion
missile launcher, he is armed with the custom WST-M pack, consisting
of a decksweeper blaster, a repeating blaster and a flamethrower
(all retractable to the main backpack unit), as well as two fearsome
arm-mounted vibroblades. Built-in repulsorlifts allow limited
flight. His battle software includes automatic targeting, infrared,
internal comlinks and combat experience from a thousand different
battles... many of them his own. If and when Ramses comes into
a combat situation, only the most foolhardy stay to fight, and
even then only the fleetest of foot survive.
Yet Ramses is perhaps even more dangerous to those he doesn't shoot at. The large amount of time since his last memory wipe has given the droid an eccentric personality. Though generally quite assertive, he sometimes seems mischeivous and quirky. He has been known to set apart time during a crisis situation to organize a repair shelf. He generally eschews turbolifts, preferring to blast himself through intervening floors. Though he can talk quite well, he generally communicates with a curt, mechanical "wee" or "weep" sound. He has been seen to grieve over small annoyances, often before blowing them away. He considers his legs being severed from his body a small annoyance. In fact, he acts suspiciously like a bigger, blunter, more droid-like Zolar. It is unknown whether he picked this up from Zolar or Zolar picked his personality up from the droid.
