What's New

8/15/2001 What? It looks like you've seen a ghost or something.
Yeah, well, in case you haven't noticed, this site is dead. Personally, I've never seen the point of getting rid of a website just because it's not being worked on anymore. I just did this update to cover the infamous Chrono Trigger emulator related problems; the Humor section's just something that I did before, so I might as well just update that too. This will probably be the last real update ever, unless I get a sudden burst of inspiration to work on this more.

Oh yeah, and the Webring... well, that seems to be rather dead right now too. Not (necessarily) because I'm lazy, but because Yahoo! had to go and completely screw up the Webring service... In case you didn't read the front page (of either this page or the webring page), I am not accepting new sites, and haven't been for awhile.

I've become aware of a few sites (specifically Total RPG and The Nisan Sanctuary) which now lead to porn sites, and so I've removed them. I make no guarantee about where the other links go to, so click at your own risk. I'll probably start adding memoirs to each section, since some sections I cower in embarassment while thinking about them, while others I hold my head high up in pride. But uh, that's all, really. So bye, and be sure to get Lufia: The Legend Returns for the GBC!

11/22 -- the powers which we all seek / must one day be found
As you can see, I'm back. Actually, I have been back since September 22nd, but remember that break I wanted that I told you about last update? Well, erm, I'll classify this time as that update. I know, I know, it's been awhile, but I never tried to lead you on to the fact that I'm not lazy. OK, there is no combo stuff, as you see, and why's that? Well, I really didn't feel like choosing (like I said about my laziness...). Erm, yah, this does look kinda like it should be a quick update. Well, humph, I don't want to call it one, and I get the final word on what to call it! *Kefka laughter*

This update will probably be the last one before the new page gets started. When will the new page get started? Well, your guess is as good as mine. As soon as I get a staff, and probably a new server, and get everything orgainized, it'll open. See the bookie over there to place bets on when. ^_^ The layout for the page is pretty much already made.

Oh, just for your information, I noticed that the Esper/Artifact links to RPGamer in Game Definitions doesn't work. Why don't I delete it? Well, 'cause I'm hoping I'll find it once again. And if I don't? Well, I'll look back through the old forms and get the info from the first person who sent it what I told them not to. ^^

I'm even still accepting applications. So if you want to have a chance of getting on the staff of the new site then fill it out, or at least contact me somehow.

8/29 -- Whereever you go, whatever you do, remember this one important fact -- Citan's the Man.
I still have the form entries, plenty of them, so please don't worry that none of them got added.

For those of you who don't already know, I'll be losing my ISP at the end of this month. Unfortunately, this means that I will probably not be around for the first few weeks of September. (I was going to take a break from this page, anyway, since I haven't been coming up with a lot of this page anyway.) So I'd really appreciate it if you kept the emails and forms to the minimum, as I won't be answering them. The good news is when I get back up, I should have a new computer and a cable modem. (Really this time. ^_^) I am actually hoping that on the next update (sometime when I get back on, off course) , I will have a new version of the page up with a staff and a new name on a new server. I cannot say how soon this will be, but I'd probably guess that'd be in at least a month. The hardest part will be getting a staff. In all honesty, I have gotten very few applications, so I currently don't have much to choose from. Some I'm pretty definite about; some I'm not sure of. I already have a beta-version of a new layout, although I'm not sure how much I (or the Page Layout person when/if I hire one) will decide to keep. If you want to be notifed of when the new page is up, then you can either visit this page regularly or join the Update List.

Due to the recent happenings with the Board of Education in my state (Kansas), I feel as though I must clear up some myths about what was passed and comment on it. Before I start, I would like to say that in no way whatsoever do I support their decision. First thing, the new science standards do not replace evolution with creationism, but they simply downplay macroevolution. (Microevolution -- simply natural selection -- is still required. Macroevolution is the evolution of species into other species.) Next, they do not require evolution to be downplayed; this is left up to the cities. The county I live is an oddball county in Kansas (in that there are more liberals than conservatives), and our city's school board, before the decision, voted unanamously to send a letter to the state school board requesting that the do not pass it. We no doubtedly will still teach macroevolution.

I once told myself that I would never let my opinion outside of RPGs/video games/this webpage leak into this page, and look what I just did. Well, as long as the state BOE doesn't make anymore braindead decisions, I'll be just fine. :)

I've been starting moving stuff into folders, so some sections without the updated link may give a broken link. If you find one, besides those in the menu (in this case, I'm probably moving files while your visiting; it should be fixed in about 5-10 minutes), then please notify me. I have already done this with the FFMQ and Whats Old sections.

7/26 -- I'm not paranoid; it's just that everyone's out to get me.
First off, I got another affiliate, Final Fantasy Play By E-Mail! (Um... I'm really not sure what else to say... ^_^)

I have not taken any time to look at any of the submission entries besides the poll entries between this and the last update, so don't worry that your Combo spell, Humor entry, etc. wasn't added. I'll look at them next update.

In case you haven't seen In the Works lately, I've started on yet another Chrono Trigger Origins fanfic, currently titled "Ares". I had originally planned for it to be more uplifting than the other two Origins stories, but the best framework I could think of for it is tragic. Which other character I haven't mentioned could have a tragic past? (Well, lots actually, but...) Spekkio. Yes, that guy at the End of Time, the "god of war", that guy who gives you magic. That Spekkio. I don't want to spoil Ares too much, but I will say that, like many other characters, his role according to Origins has a big impact on time.

Minor update: I put a pic of the current layout and some a small description of it in Site History.

Also, I have gotten another award (added before this update), this one from Crono and Marle's Games Gallery Site. Um... don't have anything else to really say. It's the one that says, "Award For a Excellent RPG Site".

Final note, I have received some applications, but haven't made any decisions yet. I don't want to automatically take the first person who applies for something without anything else (not to say anything good or bad about the applications already sent.) I am still open to more applications.

7/17 -- See last update's hidden message? That's what happens when I can't think of one... and so's this...
Don't worry. I'm still here. It's just I've been sitting on my butt playing games putting hours of grueling work into this page.

This is the sixth time I have re-written this paragraph about Chrono Cross as time went on. At first, I thought it to be a sham, shortened the paragraph, and in later ones mentioned updated doubts. But now, I have no choice but to concede. As seen on Square Jp.'s website, Chrono Cross is existant. I took a risk attempting to disprove CT2/CC, and lost. Oh, well, can't win 'em all. It's really not that bad, since I get another game out of it. :) I'll probably write an editorial admitting I was wrong, although probably not completely wrong, in that what was rumored to be CT2 and what was actually CC were not the same, or at least not completely.

Speaking of editorials, ready for a little va-ri-e-ty in them? And possibly actual updates? :) Well, as of this update, I am currently accepting submissions of other editorials for that section. Check out the section for more details.

Also, just when you thought that I had all the sevens from FF7, another one (or rather seven ^_^) has been added to Sevens of the Seven, which is the last oxygen tank Shera finished checking in Cid's flashback.

I will be changing the page to the Japanese FF system over the next so many days, so that means FF2US will now be called FF4 and FF3US will be called FF6. It won't happen all at once, though, so you will have to deal with inconsistancy for a short time.

Last thing, promise. Because of Geocities new merger with Yahoo!, my email address is now jeradhurst@yahoo.com. Luckily, I'm still able to do POP mail. (Personally, I hate online mail with a passion; no offense to people who use online mail. Heck, I use Hotmail to get forms. ^_^) Fortunately, the mail I get to jeradhurst@oocities.com will still forward the mail to the new Yahoo! account, so don't worry about clicking on those "email me" links with @oocities.com.

6/15 -- You're watching Penguin TV... *BOOM* Wahahahaha!
First thing you probably thought when you saw the old HOF/UOF was "man that's one #$&@ed up system right there." It even got on my nerves, especially after everyone started joining it on the basis of submitting stuff for the Humor section and later Combination Pokemon. And I mean ;everyone. What's different about it now? First off, there is no promotion; everyone goes here. Second, instead of listing everyone only in chronological order, which is an eyesore to me because it looked disorganized, I'm separating them out by what WOF promoted sections they contributed to. For example, the Combination Pokemon people get a section, the Humor people get a section, and so on. Sound good? This way, instead of only being recognized for only two things on this page, the limitations are only made by the sections of this page! Also, to reduce space, all links to individuals' pages are the names of those people themeselves. (When you run your mouse over them, you can see the name of the page in the status bar.)

Doh! I noticed that the FF2 section didn't appear since the new layout. That has been fixed as of the evening of the last update.

Speaking of FF, I'm planning on sometime soon changing the numbers to the Japanese numbers (FF2us = FF4j easy, FF3us = FF6j). Think about how confusing it would be if I had the order FF2, FF3, FF5, when that would actually be FF4, FF6, FF5. (Yes, I'm planning on getting the FF Anthology.)

Crono like speak like Ayla now. Crono need staff. No staff, late updates. Staff, update often, shorter name for page. Crono no like look of What's New. Crono like LoL.

5/31 -- I can sing 4 of 5 PokeRaps. Does that scare you?
I've finally got done with the rough draft for The Aftermath: That Filthy Urchin. Expect for it to be added sometime within the next few updates. I'm not going to guarantee anything, though. I'm changing the style for updating sections slightly. I used to update a Poll Entries and Humor section even when I only got one or two entries. Now, for all sections, I will only be updating them when I get a sufficent amount of additions. For some sections, like Combo Pokemon, this will be practically every update. For others, it may be monthly or bi-monthly.

For the first time in the history of this page, I got rid of a section, Webring Ideas. Why? Well, for one thing, people don't seem to comment on that section as much as they do others (which I understand). The other reason is that between the fact that it only has two entries and the last update to it was on 7/25/97, so to me it's just an eyesore. Anyone upset about this that wants it back feel free to flame me for it back; who knows, I might just do so if I get enough requests. But for now, at least, bye-bye Webring Ideas. I'll always remember you. May it rest in peace. 7/25/97 - 5/31/99

If it's just me, please say so, but even after I reworked this section, between all the formatting it looks gross to me. I'm trying to think of a good looking way to show this section, but I can't think of anything. Ideas? I'm also trying to rework some other sections such as Combination Pokemon and the HOF/UOF.

Wow. Fun. Updates. Whoopie.

5/21 -- Poor Michael Greenhut...
I believe this has been the longest What's New I have ever done, especially considering that I'm actually typing something out other than seemingly computer generated code. Things are looking up!
