- Burning Rubber:Basic Tips to Gain Speed
- Wario Stadium is a "trick track". Speed is not a factor...if you can't do one of the tricks, you're finished, regardless of how good you take the corners.
- Mushroom Usage: Use mushrooms to aid you in completing as many of the tricks as possible.
- Load the area after the starting line with bananas and fake item boxes. Getting over the wall the first time is crucial if one intends to perform any of the other tricks, so hampering your opponents' chances of making this first jump is advantageous.
- Confirmed Tricks: How to Jump, Slide, and Skid Your Way to Victory
- One of the simplest tricks on Wario Stadium (and indeed in the game) is the hop over the starting lane wall. Simply turn your kart sharply to the left after crossing the finish line so that your kart faces the wall as you reach the top of one of the bumps. Then, jump if necessary (often, if you're going fast enough and you approach one of the hills at the right angle, your momentum
will carry you over the wall without jumping.) The general rule for doing any of the jumping tricks in Wario Stadium is : the lighter your kart, the sooner you must jump. Many people do not realize this, and therefore have trouble doing some of the tricks with a kart they are unaccustomed with.
Possibly the most useful trick in the game is jumping back over the starting lane wall. Accomplishing this task is much more difficult than getting over the first time, as you must clear a higher vertical distance, and you usually will not have the aid of a boost. Basically, you want to aim your kart at the portion of the wall over which you can see the start/finish line pole, and you want to hit the wall as close to perpendicular as possible (therefore, all your momentum is directed to pushing your kart over, and not along, the barrier.)
Obviously, to get a 5 or 6 second lap time, you're going to have to get the starting lane boost, jump over the wall from the first hill, quickly get your kart turned around as much as posssible (while maintaining your speed), and jump back over. Be careful, though, on your choice of location in attempting the jump. If you start your jump too far to the left of the start/finish line, you may clear the wall but land on or after the finish line, and you will not be credited with a lap. If you jump too far to the right of the start/finish pole, you will get stuck in the wall, and Lakitu will pick you up.
- If you don't feel comfortable in your ability to perform the above trick, you can still make up some time by jumping over some of the other walls along the track:
- After clearing the first wall, leave the hilly area and take the straightaway, the u-turn, and the next straightaway. At the end of this straightaway, there is a barrier to your left that can be jumped. The same rules apply to jumping over this barrier as in all of the others, and a mushroom or a ghost will increase your chances of making it over. After clearing the wall, just take the right route, and you'll be back at the start/finish line.
- After the incline/jump near the end of the track, the barrier to your left can also be jumped. Same rules apply. This one is quite easy to do.
Trick submitted by Kyle Brandt and John Andrews. After turn 5 (immediately following the 2nd set of item boxes), there is a pair of small hills. By using one of the hills to get yourself airborne, try to jump as far over the wall to your right as possible. If you get far enough into the wall, Lakitu will place you down on the other side of the wall (to be precise, on the long straightaway that runs through the middle of the course), thus saving you a little time. This can be done at any point along this wall (at least in the area close to the hills).
- Variant: With the aid of a star or a mushroom, the wall can be cleared completely, thus saving you even more time. Just hit the star or mushroom just as you approach the hills, pull sharply right, and jump. In terms of how it is executed, this trick is very similar to the first Wario Stadium Trick.
