A lycanthrope is a shapechanging creature that is half human, half beast, and a little bit more than either species alone. For the purposes of this game, these are Were- creatures (i.e., werewolves, werecats, werespiders, etc.) Most lycanthropes are vulnerable to silver. All lycanthropes belong to a tribe which represents the beast they are most closely related to.
Most lycanthropes' individual beliefs and behavior are swayed by the phase of the moon at the time of their birth, known as their auspice. Their breed is the form they were born unto as a result of what species (or breed) their mother belonged to (either human, beast, or werebeast).
The supernatural powers that a lycanthrope possesses are known as their gifts. Most were-creatures possess a trait known as Rage that represents the strength of the ferocious beast-within. Gnosis is the lycanthrope's supernatural affinity with the elemental magics and spirits of Mother Earth (also known as Gaia).
The Wyld is the spiritual entity which sparks creation
and change in all things. The Weaver is the spiritual entity responsible for crafting order out of chaos and organizing all things into a cosmic pattern so that growth and progress may be possible. The Wyrm is the spiritual entity that constantly destroys and spawns entropy, decay, and corruption. At one time, these 3 entities acted in concert with one another and the universe was in harmony.
The Wyld created, the Weaver organized and shaped what the Wyld created, and the Wyrm ate away at the Wyld's creations (ensuring that over-population of any one thing did not occur, thus upsetting the cosmic balance). About the time that humans were created, the Weaver went insane and mankind has been manipulating, abusing, and over-analyzing Nature (the Wyld's creations) ever since. The Wyrm likewise went awry and splintered into 3 facets of its orignial self, using the Weaver's newly acquired obcession with evolution as a tool in spreading mass
discord and corruption wherever it could. In 1197, the Wyrm has begun to become more and more powerful. Cities are popping up all over the medieval world, and with each city comes more disease, filth, crime, and suffering.
