Ocarina of Time Walkthrough

Kokiri Forest
You are about to embark on a great adventure and it all starts after the long story sequence.  After the story sequence walk outside of your house to view your home: Kokiri Forest.  Try to talk to all the people to find out some things about the contols and other stuff.  As you do this you must first collect the Kokiri Sword and you must purchase the Deku Sheild.  The Kokiri Sword is to the left and up the hill when you walk out of your house and and the small hole in the back( you will probably have to climb over some fences).  Crawl through the hole and follow the path to the sword, watch out for the boulder!  Once you have the sword go back to the main area and look around for rupees.  They are in the tall grass and the bushes you cut down.  A good place to find some is in Midos house in the treasure chests.  Once you have collected 40 rupees go into the Kokiri Shop and purchase your sheild.  Now go to the right from your house and run into a guy that blocks your way(near the small pond).  Make sure you have your sword and sheild equipped and after a short talk with him(Mido) he will let you through.  As you follow the path you will see tall flowers.  Chop these down quickly to collect your first item: the Deku Stick.  Continue on until you reach the big clearing and in it you will find the Deku Tree.  Sit through the story sequence and then enter the Deku Tree, your first dungeon!!

The Deku Tree
Once you enter The Deku Tree walk around the circular area to find the flowers again but these flowers attack and takes 2 swipes of the sword.  The reward is the Deku Nut.  Once you are done exploring this area climb up either the ladder which is right near the entrance or the vines straight across from the entrance.  When you reach the top follow the path until you find a big treasure chest.  Open it to find the Map!  Keep following the path and open the door at the end.  There is a Deku Scrub in this room so when he spits his nuts (stop laughing you know what we mean) take out your sheild and deflect the nut to hit him and he will run around the room just use Z-targeting and he will allow you to move on to the next room.  He also teaches you a new trick.  The next room holds the Fairy Slingshot, an essential item during your journey, it is in the treasure chest right in front of you.  Jump on the stone thing to get to the treasure chest or climb up the vines.  Test out your new toy by hitting down the ladder just above the entrance, this will allow you to leave the room.  Go back now to the spiral path in the big room and to where you got the Map.  Break out your new slingshot and hit the skultulas so they hit the ground and die.  once all 3 are gone climb the vines and move either to the left or right(it doesn't really matter).  Walk around the circle till you find a door.  In this room is the compass.  Get the compass then use your Deku Stick to light the tall latern to get out of the room.  There is also a Gold Skultula in here, if you collect all 100 in the whole game you get something special.  Go back to the circular path and shoot one of the large skulltulas with the slingshot
once they have their backs turned!  Fall down off the circular path and try to aim yourself at the web on the floor.  If you did it right you should have broken through the web to the Basement.  Go to the platform on the right and press the button to light the tall latern which burns the web on it.  You can open up the treasure chest and get the few gold skulltulas.  Take out a Deku Stick and light it from the tall latern you just lighted by pressing the switch.  Jump to the small slightly raised platform in the water(to keep the flame from going out) then jump to the big platform and run to the web.  Burn the web to make it to the next room.  Kill the Deku Scrub then look above the door to the next room.  Shoot the eye with the slingshot and the gate across the door will open.  In this next room dive down into the water and hit the switch( to the left wall from entering).  The water will lower so go back to the entrance and hop onto the moving platform.  When you get to the other side jump off and then kill the skulltula.  Move the block to the right until it matches up with the top entrance and jump up there.  In the next room light the two torches to gain entrance to the next room.  Kill the skulltula then aim your slingshot to the ceiling and hit on the edge of the eggs.  These eggs should break then take a deku stick and burn the web on the opposite end of the room.  Go through the tunnel to get back to the same room you fell into.  Push the block until it hits the ground so you can pass between the 2 levels.  Light a Deku Stick from the lower level, jump up the block to the higher level then roll( press a) over the web on the ground to get to the lowest level.  Here you will find 3 deku scrubs and if you remember from defeating one before that the order to defeat them was 2-3-1.  Defeat them then head into the next room which contains the boss: Queen Ghoma.
Queen Gohma
When Ghoma falls down from the ceiling the first time hit her with a deku nut then slash her with your sword.  She will climb up to the ceiling and drop eggs, cut the eggs with your sword untill she falls down. Do the same thing you did the first time and repeat this process until she dies.  When she is done grab the heart container( you get one in each dungeon once you defeat the boss) and walk into the beam of light to be transported in front of the Deku Tree.  There will be a long story sequence in which you get the first spiritual stone: The Kokiri Emerald!!  Head back to Kokiri Forest then out to Hyrule Field which is straight from where you come back in from the Deku Tree.  When you leave the forest Saria will stop you and give you the Fairy Ocarina!  More on Fairy Ocarina in
Items section.

Hyrule Field and Castle
Run across Hyrule Field (keep pressing A as you run to do a roll which is faster than just running) until you see Hyrule Castle which is straight from the entrance to Hyrule Field from Kokiri Forest.  If it turns to night before you cross the drawbridge it will rise and you will be stuck in Hyrule Field until day which is not that big of a problem.  After crossing the drawbridge you will enter the first section of the market which has one door.  In that door there are lots of pots to smash which contain lots of rupees.  Keep going straight to enter the Market.    In the market talk to Malon (the girl in the white dress in front of the entrance to Hyrule Castle).  Make sure you buy a Hylian Sheild, it may cost a lot but it is worth it.  Also play the Shooting Gallery Game and talk to the rest of the Villagers.  The Bombchu Bowling Alley is closed for now but will be open soon.  Also there is a treasure chest game in which you can only play at night.  After exploring and talking to Malon go into Hyrule Castle which is in between the Shooting Gallery and Happy Mask Shop.  If Malon is not there walk back into the Market then back into the castle area.  You will have to talk to the owl again and Malon to recieve the egg.  Climb up the vines until you reach the top of the small cliff.  Walk along that top area until you see a path made of stone with a hole in it.  Go around the hole and fall off the path and land just on theother side of the gate.  if you fall down teh hole just open the door to get out of the small room and you will also be on the other side of the gate.  Walk up the pathway until you see the guards (don't go to close to them or you will be thrown out of the castle area.  Go to the left in the grass and you should see a path.  Follow the path and when it ends keep going straight until you hit the wall.  Climb up the rocks and when up go forward but keep close to the wall.  Fall down off that area and you should be in front of a moat.  Jump in to it and ride it down until you after it has carried you a little bit to the left.  By now it should be day and the chicken will have hatched from the egg.  Use the chicken to wake up the guy sleeping on the ground (Talon) and he will run off.  Now move the two boxes to the area where Talon was, push one off the side then one on top of the other box.  Climb on top of the boxes then jump across to the small opening that is leaking a tiny bit of water.  Crawl through the hole to enter the courtyard.  You must be very quick and sneaky to get past some areas because the guards are out to send you out.  You have to have a lot of patience and you will have to wait sometimes so the guards won't see you and then run as fast as you can to get to the next area.  The horizontal area is the last and then you will reach the section with Princess Zelda.    Check out Tips and Tricks to find out about a cool trick in this section.  Talk to her to learn a lot about Hyrule, Ganondorf and the Sacred Realm.  She will also give you a letter.  After you have talked to her as you attempt to leave you will run into Impa who will teach you Zelda's Lullyaby!  You will need this song to complete many tasks in this game.  Pay close attention to what Impa says about it.  Impa will take you to the drawbridge where you entered the market.  Now take the time to explore Hyrule Field and learn the Ocarina songs from around Hyule (check out Things To Collect to see where to find all ocarina songs).

Kakariko Village/Death Mountain/Goron City
Once you are done head on over to Kakariko Village and do some more exploring.  You can get a bottle by returning the 7 cuccos to the pen and the lady will give you it.  Also visit the Graveyard to learn the Sun's Song(in
Things To Collect).  Give the guard blocking the gate Zelda's Letter and he will open the gate leading to the Death Mountain Trail.  Follow the Trail past Dodongo's Cavern (the next dungeon) and continue up to Goron City (watch out for the rolling Goron!).  In Goron City  fall down to the bottom or climb down the stairs to reach the carpet in front of a wall with paintings on it (the carpet says something about being comfy or something).  Play Zelda's Lullyaby while standing on the carpet and the stone slab will open in front of you.  In this room you will find Darunia.  Talk to him first and he will yell at you but if you play Saria's Song he will start to dance around.  After he is finished dancing he will talk with you then give you the Bomb Bracelet which gives you the ability to pick up Bomb Flowers!  Leave this room but before you do light a Deku Stick and light all the torches in the room you just came from (there are 3 or 4).  This will cause the big statue like thing to start spinning, if you throw a bomb in it you will get some prizes.  Go back up the stairs and out of Goron City.  Once you have left stick to the right wall of the mountain until you reach a small platform where a Goron is protecting a bomb flower from the sun.  Go to the bomb flower next to him, pull it out and then throw if the cliff.  If you did it right it should have blown up the rock blocking Dodongo's Cavern.  Head down there then enter the cavern.

Dodongo's Cavern
It is a good idea to use your Hylian Sheild (you did buy one, right?) since your Deku Sheild will burn up.  In the first room take one of the bomb flowers and place the bomb right in front of the brown stone wall which will blow up from the bomb.  You will need to do this trick a lot so make sure you get it down pat.  Once the wall is destroyed you will officially enter Dodngo's Cavern.  The first room of this dungeon is very big and will have pools of lava on the floor.  Jump across the pillars to the middle platform and dodge the big eye, it will shoot a laser at you!  Jump over to the right platform that raises and then jump across to the ledge.  Go down to the right, avoid the Beamo, and then bomb the wall at the end of the path.  Go down this path, you will encounter the Baby Dodongos.  One hit with your sword will cause them to turn red then explode.  At the end of this path push or pull the big statue, there are many in this game, onto the switch to open the door on the ledge right near you.  The next hall is very small and has 2 bats which you can take out easily.  Grab the hearts they drop, you will need full life for the next room. In the next room you will encounter the Lizalfos, just keep using your sword as the make several attacks on you, 6 hits of your sword on each should be enough to destroy them and open the next door.  Walk down the hall, there is a rock wall you can destroy but it isn't worth it since there isn't anything important in that room, and head down the right path and light a deku stick with the torch on the right wall.  Continue down this path, you will have to light 3 tall torches to open the door which are right in a row.  Avoid the Dodongos, they will blow fire at you but you can defeat them by using 2 bomb flowers.  You will now be in another hall, at the end of it there is a switch to hit.  This will open up a door on the other side of the big entrance room which you will be in once you fall off the ledge at the end of the hall.  When you get to the other side instead of going through the just opened door, head to the left and bomb the rock wall which will contain the Map.  Now go through the door and in this room you will find a large stone staircaase that you can't reach.  Blow through the stone wallin this room to enter the room with the compass.  To lower the staircase, take the one bomb flower that is next to the entrance of the compass room an place it right between the two center bomb flowers.  This will set off a chain reaction of bomb flowers and the staircase will come down.  Climb the staircase and go up another flight of stairs until your reach the top and a door.  You are now in a room with 4 statues, move the one in the back away from the ladder and hit the switch on top of the platform.  If you touch one of the other statues they will attack you so use a bomb flower to destroy them.  You will now be in the huge entrance room.  Cross the bridge and watch out for the Fire Keese.  The next room is filled with blades that wizz by when they sense your movement.  Manuever your way around them until you reach the big block.  Climb the block and jump back to a platform with a chest and a bomb flower.  Throw the bomb flower onto the ledge with the bombable wall and it will lead into the next room.  You will now be in a room with platforms to cross but one is covered in flames.  Shoot the eye above the entrance to the next room and run across quickly because the flames will be up soon.  Next, there is another long hallway with baby dodongos, defeat them to make it to the next room with 2 more Lizalfos.  Destroy them then enter the next room  which is like the flaming platform room except there are now 2 flaming platforms!  Shoot the eye above the entrance to the next room and jump on the next platform.  Then turn left to shoot another eye then exit the room.  You will be on the other side of the spike room.  Jump across to the other platform and open the chest to get the bomb bag.  Follow the path until you reach a switch.  Press it to make one of the pillars rise to the top where you are.  You can now move easier among the first and second floors.  Head to the roght where there is a bridge with sections cut off.  Drop a bomb down each of these openings and it will open the mouth of the big Dodongo head.  Jump down and go into the mouth.  Go down the hall then to the right down the hall and keep following the main path until you reach 2 big blocks.  Pull on of them until it is aligned with the one on the higher platform.  Now push the higher block off the platform then all the way to the back where there is another block to push.  Push this block until you can get out of that area.  Follow the hall down until you reach yet another block.  Push this one off and into the hole in the middle of this room.  This will open up a door to you right wich has a weird thing in the center.  Bomb it to gain entrance into King Dodongos lair.

King Dodongo
First use your Z Targeting and when it opens his mouth throw a bomb in.  He will fall to the ground so slash at him with your sword.  When he gets back up he will roll around.  Dodge him or use your Hylian Sheild to avoid damage.  Continue the prevoius steps to defeat him!  Grab the Heart Container then go into the beam of light to get out of this dingeon.

Death Mountain and Beyond
After defeating King Dodongo, the Gorons will praise you in a story sequence then Darunia will give you the Goron's Ruby!  You know have 2 of the 3 Spirtual Stones!  After this head up the path then keep to the left until you reach a platform with 2 boulders.  Blow them both up then continue to head up the path.  You will eventually come along a valley.  As you run across, rocks will fall onto you so equip your Hylian sheild and take it out when there is the rock avalanche.  When you reach the wall, first shoot down the skulltulas on it, then climb up the wall.  When you reach the top, you will talk to the owl then bomb the wall on the left to enter the Great Fairy Fountain.  Play Zelda's Lullyaby while standing on the Triforce symbol.  The Great Fairy will come and give you the power to release energy with a sword spin.  Go out then talk to the owl who will give you a ride down to Kakariko Village.  Now. leave Kakariko Village into Hyrule Field and head left after the stairs.  Follow the stream and you should reach the entrance to Zora's River.

Zora's River/Zora's Domain
When you enter this area first blow up the rocks in front of you.
