The Legend of Zelda: The Jade Triforce

Chapter 6

After the Red World Dungeon...

Metallic walked out of the cave where the the Red World portal was. Link was sitting outside on the grass staring at the Meadow.

Hey, I got it. Let's go.

Link turned around and faced Metallic.

Why'd you do that? Why did you send me back? I've gotten through tougher places before. Just tell me- why?

You wouldn't have made it. I know so. I did it for your own good. You were not in any position to help.

Well, I know deep down you're right. Let's get going then.

They spent the better part of the day crossing the Meadow with little interruption. It was nightfall when they crossed the threshold of Hyrule when Metallic spoke up.

Link, what's that? Over there in the bushes? The brown thing.

I have no clue.

Link bent down and brushed away some bushes and weeds covering a large brown slab with an inscription on it- 13,21,4,15,18,1 _:__:_-.--.--.--.-~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~-.--.--.--.-_:__:_

What does THAT mean?

I don't know. I'm going to sleep on it. Can you get a fire going?

Yeah. Get some rest. I'll be here in the morning.

Link slept for a while until he heard Zelda's voice in his mind.

...Link, I don't know if you can hear this, but I'm okay. I have a slight illness, but don't worry. I'll be alright. I know you'll come for me...

Link awoke suddenly. He looked up to see Metallic staring into the fire.

What have you come up with?

Nothing...I don't understand it.

Well I don-...wait a minute! Letters! The numbers represent letters! Let's see...

It spells MUDORA.

Of course!!! It's so obvious now! I have to read it using the Book of Mudora!

Link raced over to the slab and held up the Book of Mudora to decipher it.

It says "Twenty paces ahead lies a cavern. Inside lies the ruby. It is sealed by magic. Only the Teacher Stone can remove it." It also goes on to read "To the finder: Use the Triforce and your heart." That's all there is.

Twenty paces forward, eh? Let's go see.

Metallic trudged on until he came to a wall with an indentation in it. That was all there was. Nothing more, nothing less.

I guess this doesn't help us much, seeing as we need the Teacher Stone.

Let's go back to camp.

Link lead the way while Metallic spoke.

Let's see, we have the Light Crystal, a rainbow weapon, and the Prism Gauntlets. Once we have the Teacher Stone we can get the Ruby Pendant and travel to the Temple of Thought. So much work, and we still have only so much time to find the four other rainbow gems and the Triforce. We still have our work cut out for us.

Metallic, I have it! I know where the Teacher Stone is!

Metallic faced him excitedly.

Really? Where?!

YOU! Don't you get it? You are the Teacher Stone. It says on your back to use this "tool". You're the tool of human thought! Let's get back to that cavern!

Both ran top speed back to the wall with the slot on it. Link placed Metallic's hand on it and a door opended. Metallic stepped inside first, Link following close behind.

Metallic, look! Up there!

Straight ahead was an alter with a glowing red pendant hanging from it.

That's it. That's the Ruby Pendant.

Link stepped up to the alter, grasped the treasure suspended there, and placed it around his neck. Just then, Metallic walked across the room and picked up a piece of paper.

Link, look what I found.

Link crossed the room and took a look at what Metallic was holding.

What's it say?

Let's see...it reads "Dear Metallic. This letter is from your creator. If you are reading this, then what my worst fear is has happened. By now you should have found a hero and guided him here to the Ruby Pendent. If you were successful, you must already have defeated the vile Prismix and obtained the Light Crystal. Lead the Hero well, Metallic. All of your days are numbered if you don't fulfill your quest- er- that is I know you will obtain your goal. Have faith in your knowledge and his magic. Both will be needed for your victory. Seek out my home to find an alter such as this one to gain a map where the six rainbow gems are kept. Farewell Metallic and the Hero. The fate of Hyrule is upon your shoulders yet again... He was a very brave man to defy Jinero... The last place that I knew where his headquarters were was underground by the old Lake Hylia Lab. Let's go there to see if there's anything he left around there...

Okay. Like his letter said, we now are the sole protectors of Hyrule. Let's live up to our names, huh?
