Page information

You are looking at a webpage and browsing a website designed by someone who had no clue how to write HTML two months ago. This site utilizes some of the neatest things on the web. On of which being Java script. To start off, when you go to the homepage, after it finishes loading a box should pop up. It may have or it may not have, but if it did it should have said something about sending a form. If you click ok it sends an e-mail to me telling me your name, e-mail address, the page you were at before mine and what browser you are using. This is useful to me to know who is browsing my website. However when the error box pops up it gives you the option of clicking cancel. If that is the case then it won't send me your name and e-mail address. So I have a back up plan. Thanks to Extreme Tracking, I can still track your browser information, your screen resolution and color setting, your IP address, what country you are from, what page you were at before mine, what words you used in a search engine to reach for my page, what browser your using, and what operation system you have ect. This is also useful to me to better design my site for those people most visiting my site.

When you click the "Enter this Site" button on the main page, something happens, although you don't see it. It reads your monitors resolution setting (IE 600x800 or 640x480 ECT.) and loads the site I designed for that resolution. This ensures that everyone has the best possible viewing experience, and it looks great at both settings (although it is a lot more work for me)

Thanks to Hitometer.com, a free service offered by Netscape I am able to place counters at the bottom of each page that will track which pages are most popular. I am already able to determine that people head straight for the pictures. This way I am able to make the more popular pages better.

The links image which appears as water with the mouse over it is a free Java Applet I found. I thought it fit with the mood of the site. I also found the lake applet which makes the appearance of water on the homepage within the site. I though this was also suitable for the site.

All of the images and backgrounds within the site were either created or edited by Adobe Photo Deluxe, one of the best non commerical home photo editors. I have heard about Adobe Photo Shop, but I have never used it. I don't see the need for any thing more than Adobe Photo Deluxe.

This probably doesn't mean much to you but I would think it was interesting. The pages before you were constructed on an E-Machine 400I3 with 4.0Gigs, 400MHZ, 32MBs RAM, and an Intel Celeron Processor.

As far as basic site layout and design, I designed it all myself. The graphics at the top of each of the pages (the ones with the fancy writing and the life rings) were all designed by me. The color layout is designed after the White Star Lines color scheme. I thought it would be suitabe for the site.

The Titanic information it's self has been collected over a period of three years. I saw a TV movie about it several years ago, and have been interested since. I wish to gather more information on the passengers, and as I gather that information it will be here FIRST.

By now you know this site is hosted by Geocities.com. What you may not know is that Geocities has either a banner or a little box that usually pops up in the corner. This is usually annoying and in the way. You will not see any of these as you browse my site (unless I made a mistake on one of the pages). This is thanks to a java script which blocks the ads from initializing.

All of the links listed at the bottom of the pages are kept in an external Java Script file. That way all I have to do is update one file rather than changing each page, wondering if I did each correctly. This saves a lot of time, and I highly recommend it.
