New York City

New York, New York

What else is there really to say! A very action-packed, vibrant city. I disagree with some people who say the locals are rude. I think they are just all in such a hurry. The taxi drivers are okay, if not a little reckless compared to what I am used to. But, they don’t seem to have even the slightest problems. Plus, we always got to where we wanted. I think some of them are quite talented. I mean, I know I would never be able to judge the distance of another car, going 50 mph, by mere centimeters.

This trip was in 2000 during Fleet Week, OpSail and the July 4th weekend. Manhattan was absolutely packed. Fleet week is when Navies from all over the world converge on new York. The streets and bars were full of navy personnel. It is held in conjunction with OpSail. This is a Fleet Week but with Tall Ships. Tall Ships from all over were moored in the harbor for display and tours. Just great fun

We did see President Clinton. Really not that excited. I’m not a huge fan and streets were shut down for his motorcade - that got in my way.

I have no digital pictures for this trip. One of these days I will go through storage and find all the pictures that I have and scan them digitally.
